Default Pectel Management

Evening

Just wanted to know if anyone has setup a pectel T2 on a MK1 Focua RS and how they are finding it? As the car is stripped, thinking the new engine will benefit from an improved management so any wiring can be done now rather than later.

Cheers

Hi not run one in a mk1 , but pectel t2 is a good upgrade , fully mappable and has a few features but not overly complexed like the more expensive ecus. Does a good job. Ian used t2 on all his engines that ran big power for reliability and he used Ahmed and Harvey to do the mapping and dyno so you couldn't get any better. I built most of ian pectel t2 looms for many different cars including mk1 focus and I still run t2 on my engine and most probably will carry on as it's a cheap Motorsport proven Ecu.
Let us know if you need a loom lol

Cheers paul

It’s a very basic Ecu so you may want to look at what you want it to do.
Any good aftermarket Ecu will be a improvement but most of it is down to the mapper. Choose the one you want to use and go with what they say.

Why ? There's nothing wrong with t2 , and I don't think there is any age difference as ford used it on there promo t230 Ford Focus car . It's cheap and I would rather have that that some old Cossie ecu that's with a pectel board and people are still fitting them to cars now. Unless you want to spend over Ł2000 now your limited unless it omex or megasquirt.
I would swap to t6 but they go for Ł1000/Ł1500 secondhand and new pectel sq6 are more than that just for the ecu alone.
I would like to use life racing but they are expensive so tbh iam not going to gain anything.

Cheers paul

The car is to be a "Great" track car but an even "Greater" road car. My other option is to for an EMU ECU master setup BUT I'd need a custom loom to get a digital dash to work.

I had assumed that the poster actually meant an old cossie one but obviously not. I know I would not want megasquirt.

T2 for me was a nightmare - my Focus T230 ecu was locked - no support - no one willing to unlock - got rid - had my ford ecu mapped by Sabre - havent looked back

T2 is good but dated not sure it's even made anymore
I paid Ł500 for a t2 with a proper loom for my pinto turbo
As it will be fine

Had a t6 years ago good Ecu but was always breaking

Life racing f88 entry level is Ł850+vat which is a very capable Ecu
And there is loads more in it to be unlocked if you need it

I had a Focus T190 years back with an Ian Howell specced engine running a modest 360 bhp (engine specced for 500bhp) that was firstly mapped by Ahmed Bayjoo then mapped by Harvey Gibbs and its a very good ecu for the money in fact it’s better than most others for the same money, but listen to Mark Shead on here use whatever the mapper of your car suggests as he will get the best out of it then for you!
