2.0 twin cam efi into sierra 1.6 pinto
hi all as in my last post i wrote up about my new granada i bought
i also have a 1.6 pinto sierra
i bought it but never got around doing anything with it
so since a have the granada it just hit me would,nt it be a great idea to swap with engine out of the granada into the sierra
its a 2.0 doch efi great running engine going very well
i have changed engines before but it was just bolt in bolt out job never on a ford
my sierra has the type 9 gear box i think as its a 1.6 pinto
will it bolt up the the 2.0 engine as the granada is automatic
also i will need an efi petrol tank i dont think the granada one is the same as the sierra
or will the sierra one do or will i need to go look for another one
wireing wouldnt be my strongest point put from with i gather in my own head is that i will just swap the loom over from the granada into the sierra with the ecu and so on
any help to me would be very much appreciated
thanks

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I did this conversion with a 2.0 twincam efi into a 1.8cvh carb both sierras on 91/92 reg years J+K plates the twincam engine was an automatic unit
From what i remember this is what was needed........
You will need the MT75 gearbox, you will need the propshaft also and a flywheel and go to ford for the small spiggot bearing on end of crankshaft area it is needed.
convert the wiring loom and ecu into the car and a petrol tank and all i had to do was add a fuse into the fusebox in engine bay for the fuel pump to run.
I am positive i had a slight issue with the vacuum pipe that runs from master cylinder but i had a blast in that car for what it was
hope some of that hekps

will i need to swap the granada fuse box over to the sierra as well
is it a plug in job
or has there to be lots of wires cut and joined to get it running

Fart of the Purniture
I don't think your type 9 box/flywheel/clutch etc will just bolt up and work without a fuss - speedo drive etc is something to think about.
Your mk3 Granada DOHC has an auto sump, if you were to use an MT75 RWD manual gearbox to convert the granny to manual you would need a manual sump as the starter motor is on the other side.
But as your going to attempt mixing that into the Sierra with type 9 stuff I think it might be awkward?
Good luck

i know some of you told me i need the mt75 box
but i think the type 9 box will fit if i use the 1.6 fly wheel clutch etc
the type 9 box would not fit if i used a twin cam fly wheel because they are massive <1.6 flywheel is smaller>
i could be fully wrong here but im going to chance it and see i hope it will work
