Default Do I scrap it?

I need your help!

i bought a 2010 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI off a friend with the turbo gone. It smoked like a train and had no power.

Secondhand turbo bought off eBay and fitted. Car started straight away and I let get up to temperature before testing. Drove up the road and round a few corners and when I put my foot down to see if turbo kicked in.

The car accelerated on its own straight into the red line. I quickly turned it off and pulled over. Tried to restart but it would only turn over.

If I spray easy start into inlet manifold it starts after turning it over for about ten seconds then cuts straight out. Engine sounds fine for the split second that it runs.

When end I plug the OBD scanner in there is no fault codes. I get readings from all sorts but show no fuel pressure at all. When I disconnect the pressure sensor off the common rail it throws a fault code which would indicate they that is working. When I crack the pipes to injector off and turn it over fuel comes out but only spitting.

I have now now replaced the fuel pump from another off of eBay, fitted it, beld the system by drawing the fuel from the return pipe from the fuel pump and have the same problem.

I am am now out of ideas and now getting very expensive. Is there anybody out there able to help me.

I also cant work out the link between the turbo change, accelerating on its own and now no fuel pressure. As well as being peed off with it I am also very curious to what has happened.

Please help once again.

on a diesel it can run on feeding off oil in the inlet so in theory the blown turbo could have left oil in the system and it has run off that. The old mk1 golf diesels used to consume their own oil and detonate so it could be that.

I have heard about that, but I wouldn’t have been able to turn it off if running off it’s own oil. The air pipes for turbo run under the car and was left to drain over a week before the turbo was fitted. Still doesn’t explain it not starting now. Forgot to mention that when it took off like the clappers and I turned it off there was no clouds of smoke or anything. Just a big line of suit on the road. Thanks

Sounds like a pain in the arse. Are you sure everything has been fitted correctly? Sounds like more than an issue with the turbo, I'm not exactly sure what, but then again, I'm still learning more about cars after I did a GCSE at school on cars which covered a lot of subjects.

It is a pain in the ass. I’m sure everything is fitted correctly. Not the first turbo change I have done. But still, why no fuel pressure?

throttle response on the scanner is good and accurate. Still don’t explain no fuel pressure. Thanks

Have you checked to see if the lift pump is supplying the high pressure pump with diesel?

Thanks for your reply. I had done some investigation into this and apparently there is no list pump in the tank. That was one of my previous thoughts but the high pressure common rail pump sucks the fuel from tank. I can suck petrol from the tank manually with a hand pump and there is fuel present in the fuel lines that go over the front of the engine.
