Default Sump help - st170 into p100

Happy Sunday one and all..

I'm putting a st170 lump inin my p100 and I've not givem the sump much thought until I had the engine hovering in the bay today.. Now I'm a tight ass and don't want to spend the money on an ally sump etc so would rather fab my own one out of the st170 sump. Has anyone done it?

My sump, taped area shows where it fouls the crossmember

I’ve done a few for kitcars. There easier as it’s a flat bottom.

I would chop the alloy bit on the mid section as it won’t line up with the gearbox. I would then make a flat at the front sump with the bowl at the rear.

It’s much easier with a tig to get it oil tight first time.

Due to photo bucket fucking project threads across the internet I don’t have the phot that speaks a thousand words.

But.

There is a big chunk of alloy that hangs down and locates the sump to the gearbox. These don’t line up with a t9. There is loads that needs grinding out to clear the starter.

My flat sump held just under 4.5L. I would have liked a little more. In fact I am making another and will aim for a round 5 L like the race line sump. With yours I would make it flat at the front with a rear bowl like anything commercially available.

Not my photo, and I guess this is a modified cvh sump but you wand this shape with the bowl at the back.

Yeah, just add some wings to get the oil volume back up?

If you come across said photo could you chuck it up oo here please bud? I've cut the sump up tonite so shall go see the metal man. Did you use the same gauge metal or opt for something a little on the thicker side?

A little thicker as I had some 16swg (1.5mm) kicking about from something else.
