Default Fuel pump voltage on a cossie

IIRC i was told that the fuel pump had to have at least 11.something other volts at tick over..

Is this correct? what voltage should it be?

also, is this the recommended way of changing it?

https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...hlight=voltage

and in a perfect world, i guess the wiring should be changed..

Dunno what it should be but as most pumps are rated at 12 volts I swapped the wires on mine when it was 11.6 volts and now I get 12.6-12.8 volts.

Yes, but 30amp fuse will be ok, runing 25Amp wires.
Don't forget to do the earth also, from battery to pump, and body to pump.

Cars i have done run about 13.5-14.2 to the fuel pump using standard 4x4 alternators.

If its running 11V get it checked mate, rang the place that set mine up yesterday to check what the voltage was actually reading just to find out, and it was 11v and dropping to about 9v when you rev the car which is fookin dangerous!!!!!!!! car was leaning out in a big way.

Think the only thing that saved me from a blown engine was prob the NGK 9s cos ive been driving it a bit hard

So gonna be re-wiring the car tomorrow

you should get virtually same voltage at pump as at battery should be something like 13.8 volts if not two ways of improving it are run a 20 mm cable from back of alternator to positive side of battery as well as standard ford cables also a bigger earth from battery to body and if fuel pump v oltage still not the same run a 6mm cable from battery into spare tyre well and use existing fuel pump wiring to trigger new 40 amp relay and power pump through relay using new 6 mm cable aspower supply .

Thanks, strange thing is that i get 13.8 at the Pectel Monitor (V+ from ABS connector). Cant understand why fuel pump only see 12.6 when its on fresh wiring direct to the battery.
