Ford Techs, ecoboost problems?
Any Ford techs aware of any problems with the 1.0 Ecoboost engine or its ignition/fuelling system ?
Only ask as our 2013 1.0 Focus has seemed to have dropped down on 2 cylinders. Only having 3 to start doesn't help lol
Car has only done 7k with service history so surprised its going wrong already ?
btw. management light is flashing and its now as gutless as fook
Have inquired with local dealers but have over a weeks wait before they will even look at it
Cheers

Flashing management light means you have misfires.
Anybody (even with a cheap scanner) should be able to read the codes.
Granted, Ford specific software probably will see more.
Do not drive any more, otherwise you could damage the expensive catalyst.

Definitely sounds like a spark issues, we have a fiesta zetec s ecoboost same year on 25k and never missed a beat. They like being driven not just sitting there doing nothing lol.
Have you looked under the bonnet?
Ford has a recall out for a coolant pipe that comes off the turbo and goes to the header tank. They are plastic and split causing it to pee all the coolant out and cook the head gasket. Normally causing them to drop 2 cylinders..however this normally results in the car not starting

My sister in law had problems with her 13,000 mile 13 plate 1.0
Had numerous software updates at the supplying dealer, and even had a guy down especially from Dunton to have a look at it. Couldn't sort the starting/misfiring issue, so in they end they fitted a brand new engine under warranty. It's as good as gold now.

Cheers all. Yes its already had the recall on the coolant pipe done and looking under the bonnet I couldn't see anything amiss. Have now used a scanner on it and it comes up with misfire on 2. Would be nice to swap coils about to see if the misfire jumps cylinder, but as its under warranty I daren't touch it in case Ford get funny saying I've played with it causing the problem ? Hopefully it is just the coil.
The Eco boost is a relatively new engine still though so will take time to iron out all these little niggles. At least for once ford have admitted there is a problem and not buried their head in the sand like that normally do.
Plus they squeeze 200 BHP out of them in their formula ford cars, the biggest problem I find with it is they put a 5 speed box in the fiesta and the tall gearing spoils it. I wonder anyone's put a 6 speed in one yet.
My supervisor at work has a 2015 5k old fiesta titanium ecoboost, asked me the other day if i knew why it would smell of gas, and the header tank was bubbling. I said about possible coolent leak but he said it all seems ok. Ill have a look tomorrow.
Also how do you know about the focus issues as another chap i work with has a 13 plate 125bhp focus ecoboost.
I have the 2.0l mk3 focus st ecoboost, any issues with them at all?
I have a slightly noisy pulley on the engine but no problems as such. Its on 31k.

ECOBOOST ENGINE OVERHEATING PROBLEMS 1.0
If someone has or has the car equipped with this engine should be aware that it has valid warranty extension and / or require deep reviews of the state of the engine. A deficiency is detected in the engine cooling which causes in some cars a peak of overheating of which the panel does not give any warning and burns the gaskets of the motor leaving passing liquid of cooling to the gasoline circuit damaging the whole motor and forcing a repair Which is practically a new engine.
The first symptom is difficulty getting the car to work and losing power without any other indication of the vehicle. Of course, the damage is done right now.
Ford does not assume this manufacturing defect that is already explained in at least one technical opinion of an American company and the owner has no alternative but to undertake a thorough repair in a car that should have a much longer life.
The dealers on their side refer the matter to Ford and say that they only "repair cars" in a very nice way.
Deco has already contacted Ford in my case and they simply ignore the issue by referring only to the fact that the vehicle is not covered by warranty.
BE CAREFUL THEREFORE WITH THESE EXPERIMENTAL ENGINES.
