Another escort mfi problem
Can anyone help me I have just fitted my engine I've checked timing fuel pump blown out pipes with air line changed relay changed injectors fresh fuel bridged cts plugs leads coil and for the life of me I can't get fuel to the injectors I have fuel everywhere else but the 4 pipes , just when I was about to give up there is a random bolt on the side of the meetering unit I unbolted that and fuel and air came out with the bolt out I cracked off the injector bolt hey presto there was pressure with fuel squirting out do the random bolt up and the pressure gone all it does is start up and die after about 3 seconds .... Unplug the cold start just turns over I'm stumped and feel like burning the fucker
please help
please help
Sounds like the pin on the metering unit may be jammed or sticking.
easy way to check would be...bridge the fuel pump so it runs constantly, push down gently on the metering flap, is there a resistance or does the flap just flop up and down easily? (get a feel of the flap before bridging the pump so you can tell the difference)
OR alternatively, remove the fuel distribution part (the bit all the piped bolt to, and you will see a pin in the middle poking out, this should move freely but can jam with lack of use.

Thanks for the reply, tried that the pin moves freely there's resistance in the flap I've tried everything I can now new sensors fuel pump injectors changed meetering head for another won't get anything to the four injectors and then the last time cranking I lost all ignition and nothing works so I'm at the end of it
Well if it was getting fuel to the cold start injector allowing it to start and run momentarily, but theres no fuel coming out of the distribution part to feed the injectors, it clearly has fuel at that point but not beyond?
how are you testing for fuel at the injectors? bear in mind you won't get fuel there unless the car is either running (which its not) or the pump is bridged and running constantly and someone is pushing down on the metering flap to allow the distribution part to send fuel to all 4 injectors. If the injectors are opening you'll hear a squeeling noise assuming it hs the correct pressure to open them, failing that crack an injector whilst doing the above....pump running, pushing and holding down on metering flap.

I did tried this earlier I bridged the fuel pump via the relay I pushed the flap down undid a bolt nothing but a dribble I also rigged a Gerry can up and my old fuel pump and it didn't do it either so I'm guessing the meetering unit is shagged strange that I'm getting fuel everywhere else but up the top plus I've got a 1 bar of pressure at the acumilator
Yea must be something else wrong with the old unit then. maybe the new one works but just needs adjusted to work? MFI can be a pain to set up and to know if its working as it should be without the necesery equipment (A/F meter is a good start)

Yeah maybe your right do you know what act goes wrong in the distributor , because there's not much to go wrong ? Maybe I could repair it before trying to source a out that could also be faulty
Yeah I did that with a spare and it did work for a brief , I might try stripping the distributor part right down to the needle and see if I can get the bad boy working . I mean how many of them are left out there that act work they must be able to repaired ?
