Default coil on plug conversion for a cossie YB (stu msd)

cant seem to find a definitive answer for this in a search so please excuse me if this has been asked before

i have a L8 ecu with wasted spark (msd unit)

apart from the obvious job of adapting the wiring from a coil pack to COP units so that 1&4, 2&3 are wired together can i run coil on plugs without any alterations to the ecu?
does the fixing bolt for the Yaris COP just need a hole/thread putting in the standard cam cover or does a bit need welding on for it?

Toyota Yaris vvti seem to be the popular choice, straight or angled plugs? or is it a personal choice thing?

thanks

simon

I think the cam cover is tapped and a spacer put in to support the coil where the bolt passes through.

Not sure if an L8 or P8 weber ecu can run COP as I am not clued up on that side of things

Here is my set up using 1.0 Yaris coils,

The hole lines up perfect with the cam cover bolt hole so no welding or tapping required,

You do need to mill the cam cover so the castles part that the standard plug lead sits on is approx 1mm proud of the rest of the center cover section

Also, be sure you get the correct coils as some look identical but are around 10mm shorter and do not make contact with the top of the spark plug,

And lastly, make sure you run the correct dwell time on the coils you chose as you will cook the coil very quickly if wrong

Hope that helps a bit

not sure if you can find the set up that dave yum used on his escos as i seem to remember it was a bit different to this setup

not sure if it's the technology progressing or the fact that it might be different tuners doing it differently

I don't know how personally, but have been told it will, not sure if a baby board is needed or not, but it can do the sequential injection (or whatever the term is), that is required so I believe.
I'm going to run mine on coil/plugs, with p8 and cam trigger in the near future.
P8 also has the ability to run launch control and anti lag.

Looking again at mine it was done just the same as MKs, I didn't realise it used the Cossie bolt holes. Apologies.

MAD did mine with the vipec ecu.
