Crown wheel and pinion is hewland engineering one but there too small and not strong enough. And yes the box is a big tooth in a t5 case I'll have to see how it go's ade ran one with 680bhp but the new turbos make more torque and sooner

I'm lookin for similar power James, I've got 10 long studded 200 block, which I'm gonna have linered by Mark at mad also. I've got std std crank, CP pistons also Carillo8mm longer rods that Mark got me. After block I'll be sending head to be done to Marks spec n cams to suit. Then turbo n manifold to Marks spec, n Ecu of his choice as he the one I want to map it. I've got 6deg rear beam to go on, bladed roll bar, supra diff, also fitted with weir kit n overhauled by Bara. Coil overs, 320mm discs n rotors 4x4 calipers on rear. I'm having billet hubs on front along with bladed roll bar adj tca's and comp struts all from Mk with the huge front brakes of nicks rs500 (reylands old car) n I've purchased brand new Tremec from Martin with hydraulic clutch so I'm hoping as everything new it'll all handle the power . Lots of money spent i know but I don't drink or smoke got to have some enjoyment, I want to do it right n right first time

I would love to attend some kind of Cosworth group thrash, that'd be awesome!

Not really vmax though as that's just top speed.
I have a lower gearing so would max out at 160/170 ish anyway.
I could possibly change that I suppose if I needed too

Cheers Paul

Like the old days but with modern set ups it would be a crime against the scene not to I've got a way to go with mine still in fabrication but once complete everything else should come together pretty quickly as have had time to save my pennies we will still need a head start though mate

I will also be limited to around that with oplligger long box and 3.9 supra diff I would like to see what it could do with different gearing I've got a spare box what would be a man enough rear dif for a 4x4 for top speed with correct ratio? This would be something to look forward to once the cars completed on a low ratio low lag responsive set up

Mine is only going to be 530 bhp I think and 470 now, also limited by gearing but it would be good even to clock it at 160mph verified to be honest. Might be good to see how quick they get there. 170 mph is pretty fast at brunters.

Any Cossie bash would not see mine wanting to attend but I would like to get involved. My dream is elsewhere a bash at the Roosh Ford GT as we are the 2 fastest Fords in the UK as we end 2015.

I'll search that crown wheel and pinion for my gripper but mines will never go over 450bhp. Sorry if I missed it did you have one of these crown wheels or did you wreck the standard one?

About 500 with around the same torque. It was the r888's that did it lol it would spin before I fitted them

Yes it was as the engine was before I broke it. First off I broke the diff so fitted the gripper then I broke the crown wheel and pinion. That's when I rebuilt it with the up rated crown wheel and pinion. Not taking the risk with it in the new engine so as its worth about a grand it's a no brainier to fit a supra one and sell it

Havent I already said they do, A GT35 needs a atp housing to convert it to. The GT4088 comes in two diff housing options.

Will be some good spec cars around shortly by the looks. I'm not going to compete with you lot but would love to have a go at top speed if there was ever another thrash, mine should be 550hp + gas.
Rod, what happens to the big power sure it was meant to be 800+hp escort Cossie that mark was doing for a customer a few years back? Sure he was going to have a go at top speed.

Straightliners run various events over the year for top speed. Usually standing mile format, although looks like they may have a couple of longer events at Pendine and Pembrey for 2016 from their FB page open to cars and bikes.

Two come to mind. Ranj was going to have an engine the same as mine but it didn't get completed & im using his as yet unused DKR crank in my new build. The other was Dave Moss but his was around 660bhp it ran 194.2 mph at Bruntingthorpe many years back. I hope these big power road cars do happen as this scene needs boundaries to be pushed again.

Sounds good both pendine and pembrey are local to me which would be good but don't think there's a stretch long enough at pembrey and it's a rough old place. Il have a look on the website.

Not either of them rod, this one there was a bit about it on here and a bit about it in fast ford when they ran a feature on marks place few years back. All I can remember is it had similar spec to your 800hp engine with individual throttle bodies, il try dig the mag out.

There was a huge spec escort that got broke not long ago. It had the engine from yum in it I think the guy decided he had too much money in it. I have the breather system off it

Oh, it was the diff, not the box.

It does seem that a fair amount of cars get broken up shortly after being finished.

That was turbomooks car not the one I'm talking about. Almost bought the engine out of it before turbomook had it. The engines now in a rs1600i I think. It's a shame all the big power cars seem to get broke.

Andrew Gallagher has an 800bhp escos don't know the spec of it but I very much doubt he'll do any top speed runs he's more of a drifter and circuit driver.

Quick Reply: Turbo options for 600-650hp on a YB...
