Not either of them rod, this one there was a bit about it on here and a bit about it in fast ford when they ran a feature on marks place few years back. All I can remember is it had similar spec to your 800hp engine with individual throttle bodies, il try dig the mag out.
There was another but im sure it never got finished it was at Spec-R for a long time. You need to spend a lot of money to have a 800bhp engine that can be used on a regular basis on the road. My 838 conversion chugged on for 6k miles & 3 years but it was not the solution to a long lasting build just R&D on the way to that. What we found out will help in the new build but another 20+k was required to improve that conversion. When you are younger there are many other priorities in life than spending money on an old Ford. Its why they are broken it becomes obvious after building that the real world begins. Also the difference between 700bhp & 850bhp is vast in making it work & last. The average peep has absolutely no idea what is required if you start on that path.

I can see why he did it but to me if there meant to be road cars in road trim a massive aerodynamic aid plushes to rules a little to far. Removing wipers and tapping gaps could be argued as the same I'll agree but not quite so extrem

Or was it the white car before that ?
Obviously aero does play a huge part when it comes to top speeds and on some cars taping and removing parts no doubt could help things.
I just think it's comical how ridiculous people will make their cars look with tape everywhere....and they still dont seem to go any faster lol.
At least the big nose cone he used would really have made a difference. Any results from it with and without ?

Andy's blue carbon/tube chassis car was in no way a road car though if that's the one you're talking about ?

a simple bolt on bumper is a lot less extreme than putting an 900bhp engine in a road car....
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
when these cars hit that runway, they stop being road cars and start being top speed cars. its a bit silly not to make alterations that will help you gain a few more mph.

I guess people see things differently to me if there road going fords trying to see who go's the fastest it's simple. They have mot's there used on the road.

Not really if your building a road car to hit a desired top speed lol. Did the focus not have over 800bhp as well?

I guess it's each to there own mate what one likes the other hates? I mean who in there right mind would want to watch a group of men in shorts running round after a little ball? I sure wouldn't but others do. Take track days you spend 100's of pounds for a few hours round a track to ruin your tyres and brakes don't appeal to me but dose others don't mean it's right or wrong dose it? If someone's interest is making there car go as fast as it can on that section of road is there thing leave them to it.

You could get chucked in jail for a long time for doing 70 outside a school in a 20! Just because a can do 200 don't mean your going to do it dose it! As a road car its more about how fast a car like that is in gear.

Agree.
So mid range acceleration would be much more of an event that many many people would be interested in and consider taking part in for example.
A little like the ones I think MLR used to run.
Can't remember the speed it was run from/to though! 50-130 mph maybe.
#223
![Default](https://passionford.com/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif)
MLR do 30-130, lots of yanks favour 60-130 although some now do roll race events where you start side by side around 60mph...one car leads, so other driver needs to pay attention to the go light and try and match their position for the start and then race for around 1500ft.
They seem to do those at drag strips too, so plenty of traction compared to airfield type events
A lot of those events came about, especially the MLR as they were afraid of launching their cars and blowing their gearboxes up every time as seemed to happen at proper drag events.
Certainly makes for a cheaper way of racing although 130mph is a pretty low speed to be stopping at.

I agree with you there ridgey, do the MLR events not do 30-130, plus handling event and top speed or am I confusing it with TOTB?
#226
![Default](https://passionford.com/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif)
If you want to go fast, you'll spend more money. Doesnt really matter what the event unless there are actual speed limitations. The only "exclusive" group seems to be the VMax crowd where they wish to exclude poor folk who dont own supercars, and charge plenty for the privilege
MLR do 30-130 but I also think they offer the drivers the chance to continue on after 130 for a top speed. They do all timing via VBox so there are certain freedoms there, no idea what distance they can run to for the top speed.
TOTB is 1/4 mile, short handling track and standing 1km for top speed.

ps. It recorded 196mph on the run when it blew up. We could see it from the start line. Felt sorry for them.

Yes it's the old reyland shell not owned by Andrew but a mate of his but he drives it. It has a alloy block yb very similar spec car to Harvey's own escort that he sold a while back.
Bruce read done well didn't he for a t4 8 injector engine with gas? Sure it was 192mph?
Out of curiosity what will a standard geared 2wd top out at with say 17" or 18" wheels?

And wouldn't it depend on how much power you have? But I would of thought anything over 500bhp should see you over 180mph.

180mph can be hit with 490bhp well that's all mine had when it ran 183mph but ive seen cars with 540bhp run in the 179's it shows what optimum gearing can do. A 540 car will go faster than a 490 one given enough length of runway BUT in a set distance getting the gearing correct is all important.
