As above, done a quick search and didnt come uo with a lot,

I need a starter to fit my escort - usual YB/MT75 starter,

A tranny connect one will fit but i think you have to drill one of the holes in the startrer motor. On a tranny connecy starter 3 bolt screw into the starter but i think on the cossie 4x4 box one or more of the bolts screw into the bell housing.

iirc we had a play wiith one of these to fit to a 4x4 and it fouled the oil filter so we rotated the solenoid clockwise to miss but then the solenoid covered the centre mounting hole so we passed a 8mm bolt through from the gearbox end and fitted a nylock nut and washer . does seem to turn engine over with more torque but a little slower.
we now have one fitted to a 4x4 with a wrc winged sump and breather system with no problems

Further to this, bought a connect starter, 2006 1.8 Diesel, different bolt centres, would not line up to the box.

Anyone any part numbers that fit the 4x4?

With regards to people saying thats it won't fit the 4x4 cossie

whats the actual difference between a 2wd and 4x4 starter, i always thought it was just the length, and size of body, the holes are all the same? i hope im not wrong, i have a connect starter motor on my saff 2wd and my escort turbo, and im 95% sure there is also one on my escort cos.

The escort cossie only uses 2 bolts but that is because the big wing sump is in the way for one of them

I can see it fitting the 2wd cars, just not the 4wd cars.

I need to come and look at your escort Andy
