what a prat
I think no one is debating wasted spark but the use of a ecu that isnt designed for it

I was gonna say I thought spark plugs 1 and 4 fired at the same time and so did 2 and 3.

I didnt think all 4 fired at the same time.

I'll say it again: I had a 'base chip' from Jano and it would not run the engine all. I then had the car taken to Field Motorsport who gave it a full live map and it has run like a champ ever since.

So if you have a 'base chip' or an unknown chip in there it almost certainly will be for a different spec engine. Where was the chip bought from?

You must have used a diode mod for the tacho then, we can make them on request. You will need to remove the rev counter wire if your using the diode pack mate as the voltage to the clock will be too high if the resistor is bypassed
James, just a short question regarding the cutting out over 4k.
I have the diode mod on my car and Tacho worked fine. Now I've changed the Tacho for another one and the rev counter is dropping over 4k. Apparently the voltage for the complete dash is dropping over 4k.

What do you mean exactly with removing the rev counter wire? do I Need to remove it from the ECU plug? Or do I Need to do another mod to the Tachometer?

The rev counter has a small solder mod to bypass a resistor when running the tacho from the driver,

If you are using the diode mod, you do not need this solder mod on the rev counter, so it would have to be removed if it was in place.

The solder mod to the Tacho is not in place. Only thing I have changed is the Tacho itself as the only one that worked belongs to a mate. So I sourced another 4WD Tacho unit and strangely now the rev counter is cutting out above 4k. I will swap back to my mates Tacho and see if the problem is still there or not. Thanks for the quick reply!

Sorry my fault! The rev counter is cutting out. The speedo is of course cable driven.
