Bmw E46 330d
Just googled it and it is so common for it to happen always the ns mount aswell
Harris jack up the ns and have a good look at where the beam mounts to the floor I reckon that is your problem mate

If its a thudding noise under load, its the prop shaft donut and carrier bearing just after the gearbox. They are probe to going and the vibration travels throughout the car and makes you think its a diff mount.

Ok. But the OP hasnt said under what circumstances his mount has apparently went.
I just merely pointed out that IF it was UNDER load, the above problem i mentioned may have occured!!
Happened with me. Convinced it was a diff mount, took it to AI Autosport and he showed me what it was. The donut and bearing carrier was replaced on the prop and it hasnt done it ever since!!

hahaha, and ppl say fords are rusty buckets. Not one of my fords have ever been rust at this point like the Beamer shit. Welcome to the german car build "quality" *cough*
but all cars have their good and weak points, but this is critical IMO.

I'd say so, my E46 is mint inside the boot etc. I checked when doing the starter the other week. Seems a lot of M3 suffer bad is their any reason, more stress on the back end with greater power?
it was a big prob on all cars from this era, sometimes more, sometimes less.
There was a big recall here in Germany, if I'm right and after that they were solid at this point.
But BMW was clever, it seems that they send only the corrected cars to foreign countries to keep their "good" and overrated image of good cars
