Check filter as it may have sucked a bit of shit through, also try jacking the back of the van up so any air with travel back to the tank

That yellow plunger isn't a primer, you can press that all day it does nothing.

It's a 'filter minder' shows how blocked the filter is.

Need a hand primer on the outlet of the filter to the pipe to the pump.

One of these with pipes made up to suit the filter/pipe http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-MM-FUEL-...item1e7f3d4a5a

Don't crack off the pipes on a TDCI it will just introduce air.

Take the fuel filter off and fill it with diesel.

I've had people run them out of diesel and all I've done is taken the filter off, refilled it and started it.

its also quite common for it to ruin the pumps if it gets turned over a lot while its out of diesel
the diesel lubricates the pump so if its run dry then it ruins a seal inside and cant pull fuel thru
if it does this then it usualy means the pump is scrap,
i run a workshop for a hire drive company and unfortunately we have peple run them out of fuel all the time
usualy just fill the filter and crack an injector on a tddi and it'll fire up
tdci is fill the filter and turn it over
but definately fill the filter to the brim and try that

We have a right problem T350 2.4 TDCI ex Police thing at work.

Timing chain jumped, new head and all the gubbins.

Broke down again, no comp on cyl 4, some muppet decided to have it bored/sleeved and a new piston (not me I must add)

Engine was rebuilt.

Wouldn't start, despite having good fuel pressure on datalogger. No codes etc.

All PCM feeds/grounds tested, new CKP.

Usual shagged injectors with excess leak back, these were reconned by Delphi specialist.

Still didn't start.

Found no CMP signal (by scoping) even though it had no DTCs (usually P0340)

New CMP sensor.

Still didn't start.

Had pump reconned by Delphi specialist, started but cuts out on hard accel, IMV duty cycle low, but IMV signal goes crazy then fuel shuts off.

Starter fucked up on road test.

Burn it? Yes that has been suggested

IMV replaced (wasn't done on pump recon), ran on slave fuel supply.

Still cuts out.

Pump is back with the Delphi place, they say it's faulty..again...

Never known one van to have so many problems!

Sounds like fun Gary. The trannys we have at work have been really good. We have changed a few fuel pressure switches and a few egr valves and thats about it. Had a few bolts snap on the gearbox selector and the chuck the bolts out of the gear box casing.

Are you sure the pumps for tge filter minder?? As when I pump it pressurises the fuel line I have been using this pl7nger and the bleed nipple to draw the air out the system using a hose under some diesel I cracked of the high pressure to the pump until until diesel ran clear of air but occasionly I am still getting air thru the system.and the injectors are refusing to pressurise!!! Had to recover a 2009 hightop last night put a can of diesel in her and she started first turn why ford fitted a plunger instead of a bulb we will never know

If you're pressing this - This isn't a primer, it's the filter minder (sees how blocked it is)

not as worrying as when you spray a little too much and it revs its fucking cock off and i dont mean that bit of revving accompanied by diesel knock i mean that horrific scream with the horrendous deep growl that a diesel makes while you wince and hope the last person on the van didnt overfill the sump with oil lol

pmsl - GREAT MINDS lol..

I was working at a Ford main dealer in Worcester a few years ago, one of the lads fitted a new engine in a Transit Luton van, unfortunately he forgot/didn't bother (whatever) to empty the old intercooler of oil.

I was squirting the 'rod bender' into the intake hose as he sat in it cranking it over, luckily he was sat in it, as once it fired, it picked up the old oil from the intercooler and revved FLAT OUT

Me -

Him -

He put it in 5th gear and dropped the clutch, the back wheels did a bit of a burn out and when it stalled the turbo made a proper CHA-CHA-CHA-CHA-CHA that an old WRC car would have been proud of.

Bearing in mind it was a brand new engine, he was lucky it didn't fuck it!

niiiiccceee lol
i was doing an mot on a passat that had just (moments before!) had a turbo fit and they neither told me nor cleaned out the intercooler, i proceeded to do the smoke test. now bear in mind this was last mot of the day so all windows, doors, cracks and crevices were closed down for the day. i gave it a good old rev as per the manual and sure enough it picked up on the oil in the cooler and revved like a good un, it was in that moment with the sheer amount of unburnt skeg and years of pussyfooting soot build up in the exhaust that i finally realised what it was like to be a human DPF!

Fook! Worst bit of that is you turn it off, it's still revving flat out.

You take the keys out, it's still revving flat out

And you cant beat a run away diesel, I rember on night at my pals was about 3 in the morning we had just put a new engine in his fiesta and forgot to refit the daft gromnit on the air assist for the brakes also to make it worse the loom had ignition bypassed at the relays to get it running car also had no exhaust system it started up first turn and we couldnt get it to switch off so we paniced switched the fuel pump off switched the garage lights of and went inside and watched all the neighbours lights turning on and people coming out to see what the fuck was going on haha

Is it throwing up the coil light or EML at all as it may be the high pressure sensor
