Default bonus zetec conversion wiring

Hi I'm just about ready to put the 1.8 silvertop in my mk4 escort

Just a couple of wiring probs, on the old 1.1 engine there's a sensor under the carb manifold. Anyone know what it is? I'll be using a mk2 XR2 manifold on an adaptor plate so won't be able to fit the sensor...what should i do with it (or the cable/plug), just leave it disconnected?

Then I'll have the l.t. wires from the coil pack to splice to the bonus' ESC. I don't suppose anyone could tell me which colour wires connect to which?!

Just looked outside at the 1.1 engine & I've got a green/yellow, a green/red and a black wire going into the coil pack. The silvertop's 20 miles away at the workshop I won't be able to check the wire colours from that coil pack until tomorrow. I'll make a note & bring back here unless anyone knows what they're likely to be? Donor car '95 1.8i escort (not 130 )

Any help much appreciated

so are you gonna run the zetec off a carb?
the plug on the bottom of the original carb will prob be a anti-dieseling valve so it will run without it connected
the zetec coilpack will be similare wiring, not sure if they're the same colours, but easy to figure out with a wiring diagram out a haynes manuel

Thanks yea doing this on a shoestring so using what I got, a dgms off a 3.0 capri I'm gona try & get on the xr2 manif turn it round 90 deg so I don't get fuel surge round corners...think it'll go somehow try properly tm

Actually the dgms is for later best jet it properly first, running a twinchoke off a 2.0 pinto at mo (on a 1.1 lol) so that'll do to start with does surge a bit round left handers but it'll get me to work

Is that a steady 12v to the anti-dieselling valve? would be nice then I could use it to run the fuel pump instead if the load won't blow a fuse not sure where to connect the pump lol

best run the fuel pump thru a relay(just switched from the ignition to do it cheap)
if your running a elec pump just make sure you can control the pressure(needs to be low)

pump is a small facet type 4-6 psi job Ł15 off ebay so should be ok, i'll check how much current it draws may be alright to just connect to the switched ign then ta

Right
coilpack LT's on the car are grn/yel, blk and grn/red. I've got the Haynes manual for sept 90-feb 95 (car's an 89 & engine's mid 90!) but there's a 1.6 CVH EFI diagram there which has the same colours on the coilpack wiring, says blk is the ground or live or whatever, grn/yel is 2+3 wasted spark and grn/red is 1+4.

on the zetec pack it's blk/ora, blu/purp and blk/grn. As green is common colour to both wasted sparks on the 1.1 and black the common colour to two of the zetec connections, does it follow that they are the wasted sparks and the blu/purp is the other? Also on the plug into the coilpack on the 1.1 the blk is the middle wire of the three, on the zetec it's the blu/purp in the middle

All seems feasible but don't wanna plug it all in turn the key & it go bang!

Ta yea tried that today on the carb wire seems ok, went into Ford dealer workshop about the ign very helpful, seems I was right about middle wires & the plugs look the same so there's a 1 in 2 chance i'll be able to just plug it straight in & it'll run if not just swap the wasted sparks

just a last couple of things I can think of cos planning to go for it tm, did you use the zetec crank sensor or the 1.1 ?

Am hoping to get it all in & out from underneath, already got the box in though been using it with the 1.1 would be nice if i could pop the zetec on the box without pulling the shafts out..do you think it'll go? thought i could take cradle off & drop the hubs if need be, mind the flexible brake pipes...
