Default NEW Ford/Getrag SIX speed MT-82 gearbox replaces MT-75!!!

Just read the bit below and wondered if this new gearbox is a direct replacement for the MT-75.........impressive spec, and maybe ideal for big power/track-day Cossies???????:

Ford is introducing the first fruits of its joint venture with transmission firm Getrag, in the shape of a new six-speed MT82 gearbox. With a central bearing to prevent flexing of the internal shafts, the MT82 can handle up to 80% more torque than the firm's trusty MT75, which is retained for lesser engines.

Actually, reading it, it DOES say RWD

Wonder if itl be any good.

Ford are fitting these new gearboxes to the latest Transits.....

It is deffo a RWD gearbox, dont think that there is a 4WD version........

Anyway, they are calling it the "Durashift" and this ALL NEW 6 speed
g/gox is rated at 375 Nm (with a 3 year/100k miles warranty)

With an adaptor/some engineering this might be a cheap T5
replacement with an extra gear as a bonus
