Bit of day dreaming..... 600bhp YB....
Out doing a few bits on the cossie in the garage today, and started day dreaming about what you'd need spec wise and cash wise to acheive a 600bhp YB.
Mine at the moment is roughly 400bhp.... So how much further would you need to push to generate an extra 200?
My guess is a lot

imo the problem is there is virtually nothing on a stock cossie that can realistically handle 600 hp, its gonna be very expensive to do properly.
cossies are relatively light aswell which makes a 400 hp cossie a fast road car.
unless youve got Ł20k+ burning a hole id forget it or save and buy one built is the cheapest way as long as you buy right.

Your looking at over 6 grand in inlet / exhaust manifolds turbo management rods pistons and liners if you won't to do it right! The list is long and expencive lol
Not to meantion things like clutch gearbox diff brakes

Yb's can do it and do it well jap stuff can be un reliable and expencive too biggest part of it is who builds and tunes its!
A 600 bhp yb is a massively fast car!

Mine currently makes 550 bhp and 531 ft/lb of Torque i'd like to think it would make 600bhp with going solid lifters and bigger cams taking the limiter up from 7200rpm to 8500rpm.
Here's the current spec:
CGI 200 Twin feed Ex-WRC Block
10 Long Studs
Wet Nikasil Liners
Cosworth Racing Short Skirt Pistons 7.9:1 Compression Ratio
Cosworth WRC Long Rods
Mountune/Cosworth Crank
Oil Spray Jets
High Pressure and Flow Oil Pump
Wide Wing Sump with a Blue Sprint Sump Baffle
Big Ported Head 27mm Inlet 27mm Exhaust
Danny @ BlueSprint Super High lift Inlet cam
Standard Exhaust Cam
Hart Inlet Manifold
83lb Siemens Injectors
Tubular Manifold with 52mm primaries
GTX3076r Turbo with Tial .82 SS V-Band Exhaust Housing fitted with air to fluid cooler
100mm Airtec Intercooler
Full 4 Port Breather System with -10 Braided Lines
Remote Oil Filter and Oil Cooler system fitted with -10 Braided Lines

on a stock r32 gtr driveline on a twin clutch i have put down 0 - 60 in 3.3 seconds and 0 - 100 mph in 7.9 seconds and trapped 123 mph at pod all in car that cost me Ł10k built with a new tr racing built engine in that price aswell, the grip and driveline strength of the gtrs is my main passion for them. they have reported weak bottom ends but in my experience out of the 3 gtrs ive had so far the only one that had problems was a standard sump car that had a double capacity oil pump fitted ! imo its build issues alot of the time just like my 2jz engine built by monkeys !
in gear on the move on the road though with a cossie being just 1250 kg and if its rwd aswell will be a seriously fast car if you can get the power to the road that is.
so far i can find nothing better than the gtrs for price compared to overall performance/tunebility.

I have a rwd escort cosworth and it goes like fook. As said it does not weigh too much without the 4x4 and your biggest problem is putting the power down

Sounds daft this but i think that's part of the fun of owning a cossie, i.e struggling to get grip down etc, the rattles, smell of fuel in car etc
Unless I'm just strange and getting old

My 660bhp conversion was my best road Spec. However you would need a TKO conversion , Jag/Supra diff , rear beam with chassis connectors decent suspension kit & mods to take wide tyres. Drive Shafts screw like coke cans at that Power/Torque & its still a prob on mine. The prop also needs extra support/bearing at these Power level or if used in anger will cause a prob. Beyond that Power the problems simply multipy x100 as ive found out been since Feb 2006 on the problems but maybe just maybe late 2013 will see a 800+ YB that can be used as a normal road car & have a 10k+ life.

So basically.... a lot then
Where is the line drawn before everything need upgrading?
Surely after 20+ years of the YB engine tuners must of found out where the limits are on these engines.
Do you get to 450/500/550bhp or similar ft/lb torque and the rods/pistons/block/crank/gearbox/driveshafts/prop/diff/clutch need replacing?
Where is the best place to stop?
