Serious question,,, how hard is it to learn car mapping ?
I know people use the "you will uncover dangers" blah blah a blah
I have a apexi power fc and considering buying a datalogit and maybe giving mapping a go, I already have a innovate wide and sensor so thinking,,,, could it be relative easy ?
Also if I'm honest i do doubt trusting people as you don't get warranty ect and I have seen crap happen with mapping so its why I'm asking could I give it a go perhaps ?

PassionFord Post Whore!!
It's very easy to understand the principles behind structuring an engine mapping exercise, it takes years to get familiar with engine behaviour. By all means have a crack, but I wouldnt expect much from your first attempt!

10K+ Poster!!
I have a friend who has a very good understanding of the subject and its quite shocking the amount of other peoples work he has to rectify, and I'm not talking budget builds either, seeing it with my own eyes is shocking but also very interesting as you get to see how even the simplest of changes make a massive difference to a cars driveability, its made to look very easy by someone who understands how a engine works more than how to make it make big numbers, anyone can do that.

Jay when the Subaru is on the road I might take you up on that if you don't mind
I doubt I can do. Great job but tbh it's just cause a lot of work has already been added over the years so not even sure if the car would start ect with all the things changed
Not sure i would even have a clue but I'm sure I can catch up if I learn

Bit late but I would highly recommend the EMA course if you want to get into mapping. It gave me the know how to start playing with the maps on the rally cars instead of calling someone every time.
The best way to learn is by doing. The EMA course covers the basics of setting a ECU up and how it functions with all the actuators and then how to carry out simple calibrations.
Basically it gives you the confidence to start playing with mapping and gain some knowledge.
