Took my car up the strip at the fast show on Sunday but was a bit wary of getting it off the line, any hints or tips as want to take it up the strip again at central day,the car should easily get in the 13s if I can just get it off the line quicker and not mess up the gearchange into 2nd
like i said to you on the phone mate
come off the line hard and get into second asap
dont hit the limiter in 1st
dont rush the gear change into second because that might be the reason your missing it
have a practice on how quick you can grab second with out it missing

Chris I think that's why I was crunching 2nd as was rushing it a bit,I never hit the limiter in 1st anyway either, will have to find somewhere quiet on evening and have a practice
on/off/on/off the revs around 4k very quickly and simply dump the clutch when you are ready... And live in hope your transmission holds together
If you get a good launch you've get a 1.9/2.0 60ft time........
With a bit of practice maybe a 1.6

What spec is yours please smit I was hoping you might answer aswell as I've noticed you're not to bad on the 1/4 mile lol what gearbox and running gear do you have aswell,do you bother with the reaction times or just concentrate on getting off the line quickly as they seemed to be pretty quick with the lights on Sunday
i've got a Bernie CTS box, uprated clutrch and longer cv joints. Have a T34 .48 running 1.6BAR on greens approx 330-340bhp
I just take my time once the lights go green as the time won't start until you move the car.. I don't usually bother with reaction times as only the real racers worry about this...

Not taken mine down the strip but if i launch it i tend to be similar to smit. I have dumped it at around 6k and it fucked off sharpish but not sure how many times i dare do that

That's the problem my gearbox is only standard but it was freshly rebuilt before I put it in the car,I've only done about 2 or 3000 miles in the car so far and not really many hard miles,I've got a 2wd rear diff,I've got greens and t35 .48 but putting the .55 housing back on soon and then light blues and get it setup,it might help me a little bit that it's a mk4 escort estate shell so less weight so should help with less stress on the box lol I will try on central day and not bother with the reaction times, head gasket will be done by then aswell

Just managed to find my time on the fast show website,1/4 mile was 14.244 at 97.48 mph,60ft was 2.166 and 1/8 mile was 9.253 at 76.85mph,that was only my 2nd run up the strip in the car so hopefully will slowly get better over the year

Ok no worries mate, apparently mine was squatting quite a bit but it's only standard shocks with eibach springs,I havnt got a rear anti roll bar on it at the moment will that help much do you think
I haven't got coilovers only uprated shocks and springs... I think a rear anti-roll bar would help...
Best advice i can give ya is go out practicing somewhere quiet... Maybe an old industrial estate or something

Gonna order up a pair of rear anti roll bar links at the end of the week and get them on,what tyres do you run and do you mess around with the pressures atall,I'm running paradas all round, yeh going to go and find somewhere quiet sometime soon and have a practice
)I'm also running Paradas, they are quite a good tyre for dry grip so get practicing them launches

My estate has got full leather interior plus sub and and 2 amps aswell lol ok cool cheers for the advice and everybody else aswell, will have a look around at the weekend to find somewhere quiet for practice time lol
The arb will only help to reduce body roll (hence its name) and won't do anything to reduce squating.
