Default Cost of a zetec turbo?

I've been looking at doing this for a while and am busy getting hold of parts. I have a 2.0 blacktop that I am looking at forging.

I will be using megasquirt management and a T3.

Now I know prices vary depending on if you get a few bargins and do the work yourself etc but how much would the average forged build cost?

Can you do things a bit cheaper with just pistons and OEM Rods with ARP bolts? if so what sort of power can you get?

Last question..

Is there any tips tricks and advice you can give me to get a nice reliable engine? Parts you have used that are very good or little niggles on the build you sorted?

Thanks

Rob

first of all what power to you want?, 2nd if your going forged, then a bogo t3 is a little on the low power side for a forged engine, we can go from there

Looking for a fun figure... 250 to the 300 bhp mark. Going to be mated to an MTX75 box so that may be my sticking point.

I did mine on a tight budget on my first build. Was just a standard 2 litre silvertop with 1mm skimmed pistons and ARP rod bolts, stage 3 T3 on cvh manifold with adaptor plate, rover turbo inlet manifold with adaptor plate, omex ecu, bigger front mount and an oil cooler pretty much. Lasted 3 years at that. Was set up at 255bhp at 14psi, but i turned it down to 11psi. That was with a deisel box with an RST LSD. Had my fun with it, killed it, now doing properly thanks to the boys on here

really if you looking for those power figures then i would try and do a budget build with a decomp plate ect, either that or go for it and forge it and a good turbo 350 plus bhp?

Are decomp builds reliable though? And what power can you stick through a MTX box?

I've been offered this. It's a T3.75 hybrid

800 for rods and pistons, 200 for block work, 30 for some 106 valve springs, 200-300 for gaskets and bearings, so yea could be done, but if i done all that, i would not be strapping a nasty turbo to it,

all depends wat manifold and power you want? as above tdo5 or the ihi vf range, very cheap and can produce good power. too much choice.

i did my build last year, Ł1200 on bottom end for a 2046cc forged rods, steel rods, arp mains and gaskets.
area six head, t04b ball bearing turbo, modded sx200 manifold, alloy HO inlet.
i had a lot of welding to do and machining to get parts to fit as to avoid spending where i didn't need to.
i reckon on about Ł3500 on the engine side (already had management and injectors)
around Ł1600 on mtx75 conversion, custom shafts, 6 paddle clutch and frs box etc.

all in a mk2 fiesta, loads of one off parts/mods done by me to keep it in budget and a compact setup where possible.

TD04 seems a good choice. are there off the shelf manifolds to fit?

I'm aiming for 250-300 bhp as said before so I'd like to build the engine to take more but have it turned down to maintain reliability.

So far I have bought..

Spare engine
Rover turbo upper and lower inlet manifold
Rover 440cc Injectors with the rail
Paddle clutch.
Arp bottom end bolts

Was looking at just forged pistons to save some cash?

Fourby mondeo? Easily done on the cougar. Both the zetec and v6 has been done. The v6 does require some chopping on the block though.

Is there anyone actually running a proper budget zetec turbo?

I.e.

Decomp plate
RS Manifolds + adaptor plates
T3
ARP rod bolts etc..

Most of the threads on here about them lead to nothing or have been ruined by MO
