Default rear of focoz help please

here is a pic of the underside of the rear of my focus cossie

it looks like some sort of mounting for a space frame beam type thing

anyone got any ideas??

im attempting to fit a 2wd rear end

it came with a 4wd rear beam without a diff, so i assumed the 2sd rear end will fit and i think it will as the main beam points match up, but i think it may have had a different type of rear axle before me??

anyone into rear ends , lol

First I've heard of this one, can you give us some more pics, spec, who built it etc?

The mounting points look like space framed joints for the diff mount. Can you get more pics up?

That would be Beefy, but that's a Group A-type spec beam. It might be the fact the spare wheel well has been chopped out and the diff mount adapter point needed to be lowered a bit. Can't tell really.

Do you have a normal sierra ream beam to offer up to the shell?

i have a sierra rear end ready to offer up, i think the rear diff gets hung by removing the rubber mount and placing the diff on one side and the hanger on the other

ill have to make up mounting points for the anti roll bar i think as it was a group a beam that was on it apparently

here are some more pics, hope they make sence

Offer the beam up first to see how it sits, but I'm doubtful looking at those pics. As for the anti roll bar, you don't need it on coilovers. I don't have one on mine and its very responsive

Ideally, but it wasn't necessary

You best stick the beam on first and then the diff, if it all lines up then you're good to go. I'm assuming this was once road worthy right? If it doesn't fit, ask the original owner some questions about the original setup.

it came with a beam on it to make it roll for collection so the beam deffo fits, im assuming that i need to split the hanger from the diff and sandwich that piece hanging down on either side of the diff and the hanger with the two bolts that bolt the diff and hanger together, if i then drill the four holes up through the floor and hang properly with metal above and below for strength and then make a bracket to hold the roll bar???????

last owner had a group a beam on it, are these mounting points for the normal beam the same??????

the diff looks to be mounted very far forwards on that set up compared to a normal beam???

does that really matter??

different length driveshaft then??

lastly is that beam for sale and if so how much??

No chance of buying the one that was originally on it, was it a space framed example?

Don't loose heart mate, it doesn't take much to make the standard beam fit. Do you have any competent friends who are engineers or handy with a welder even? But it gets more difficult if it originally had a WRC style beam like the one posted above by Coley.

Offer the beam up and bolt in place, the diff mount will be easier to modify. I made one to fit another car, and its simply a case of getting spacer correct so the mount sits flush on the boot floor. You won't need to worry about the angle of the driveshafts because the diff will already be in its right location when bolted to the beam. But you need to ensure the diff mount is secure.

spoke to mark at mk motorsport and he says he might be able to make an adaptor to fit the diff, i guess somethng that fits between the diff and the car, he knows and has seen pics of the shell thankfully so he knows whats what, im to ring him on monday as hes going to have a look at a few bits he has up where he is, im sure he ll sort it, sounds like a good guy too,

thanks to all of you guys for the helpfulness, im not very good at this stuff but its great when others offer helpful advice and support

Well its the positioning of the beam would have been my biggest worry as it determines where your wheels sits in the arch among other things. But since that fits, it just the diff mount you need to sort and MK is an awsome guy. Just look at all the stuff he's made for Marc Kinsey and Beefy
