Default Insurance for your daily run around, who do you use? Prices seem to be crazy!

Who are you guys using to insure your daily hacks? I am getting crazy quotes from some firms, is everyone the same or is it a sign of the times etc!

Male
29 yrs old
Ss12 postcode
10 yrs NCB
No claims
No convictions

51 plate mondeo 1.8 lx 5 door
Value £1000

Parked on the street
Social, domestic, pleasure and 1 place of work
With protected no claims bonus

Prices I'm getting are £450 - £770 for bloody third party fire and theft!!!

Is it just me or are all people my age paying these crazy prices? 2 years ago I paid less than that fully comp on a £19000 E46 M3!

Thanks
Marc

Its gone daft, my dad was on phone earlier saying his had gone up £300, my renewal for a 206 1.4 with 8 yearsNCB is £500!! That was admiral, lowest so far is AXA @ 375. Still proper taking the piss though. Were paying for all the fucking robbing 'whiplash' claims and the uninsured. No way could I afford a decent motor with insurance going up this quick.

i use greenlight, for both my cars.

£460 annual for the focus RS fully comp protected no claims
£500 annual for the golf GTI (2000 1.8T) fully comp (1 years ncb)

they give me a discount on the second policy relative to the first....works out ok.

out of curiosity i called a few place and with just 1 years ncb they couldnt get near the golfs price so i must get a good deal

31 years old, N20 london postcode

i wonder how long it will be before insurance stops going up several hundred pounds per year. For some people thats a 50% increase year on year.

no fucking way are the claims going up that much.

People keep telling me that even a few of the insurers said it themselves but out of around 12 quotes not a single one was cheaper for fully comp!

I do have third party on any other vehicle though as that is a must for me, so no real point going fully comp on a 1k mondy

I also find putting the other half on brings it down regardless of the fact she doesnt drive it. She doesnt bring any NCB to the table either.

£900 for my ST fully comp. Driving for 12 years with 9 years NCB and 3 points for speeding.

Absolute joke!

Went up £300 when with Adrian Flux as well. So from £900 to £1200, shopped about and got for £900 again

Insurance has gone mad in the last year or so. Bad weather, whiplash, they wheel out all the excuses every year, but their profits are still stupendous.

It's just a crooked industry that no one seems that interested in regulating. It would cost me as much to insure a 1.6 Escort now as it did to insure my modified 850 T-5 two years ago.

Not entirely sure why I'm paying for increased accidents in the bad weather over the last two winters when I didn't have any!

i live in a BB postcode, if you don't know it's one of the worst areas for crash for claims.
mine went up by 40% across our insurance, an increase of £700 for all our cars, it's a piss take.

Male
38
12 years+ ncb

Claimed on my insurance after my previous car was written off whilst parked up outside my house while i was sat watching tv in the house in 2007.

Got my 1st 3 points on my licence in august 2010.

Drive a 2002 focus chic ltd edition.

Live in Manchester

on renewal in December 2010 insurance increased from £500 to £800. So the 3points cost me £300 incease on my insurance.

Currently insured with Swinton insurance. Need to shop around this December at renewal time.

Insurance is daylight robbery.

Stepdad has just had renewal through for our blackcab.

Its more than doubled from last year.
Up from £1500 to £3700 for cab and public carriage liability.

Fucking joke!!

postcode seems to play a big part. Shame the insurance companies wont publish an accurate postcode rating table. I would definitely move a few miles up the road on the next house move if i knew it meant i would save shit loads on insurance and reduce the likelyhood of my car going missing.

They said it was because the cars are worth more in the area i live in and if i hit them it will cost more to repair . i did have to laugh

That's just typical of the logic. They make the rules up as they go along, just to make sure they screw the absolute maximum out of people.

Jonny, just used the quotezone site. Bit of feedback for you, web design is shite and the same quote on gocompare is £15 cheaper with the same company (AXA).
Thanks

always use the various compare sites

my renewal came in the post at £180 for second car, checked online and the same company was offering it at £130, rang them and asked to explain expecting something like "brand new customer only" to be told "yeah, ok you can have it at £130"
