Sweet at least mines grown £5k in value in 8 years, not bad investment. I'm just happy that I know no matter what ever happens to mine I'll never be without another one as the insurers will have to pay out so i can get another one

Yeah I reckon it's time to start stockpiling some more parts. Must be cause of all the ones that have been broken up for parts over the years has pushed the prices right up. When i bought mine there were hundreds for sale

That's a good plan I been collecting bits as and when they come up too cheap to turn down. As long as the aftermarket stays strong there shouldn't be a problem for most stuff. I imagine one day body panels and doors etc will become impossible to find. Also the engines will probably double what there worth now the rarer they get

cosworth specific stuff will always be worth more, but the general run of the mill sierra stuff always gets "cossie" put into it as this then triples the value

don't know how much stuff i threw away over the years or gave away, i'm not that interested in the hoarding if parts now as i was 15 years ago when i had enough spares to build at least 2 complete cars

Ive got a few spares too. I always look on ebay for cossie parts then a save the link to parts and see what they sell for.

There was a pair of saff cossie front fog lights that sold for over 2p0 quid.

I do wonder if this is a bubble though. Yes there iconic and that makes them valuable but with are generation that grew up with cosworths. If you ask a 18 something now about cosworths like the 3 lads at my work they don't care or know what a Sierra is. So there's no way on earth there pay 10 grand plus for one

That's true. Mind u the new apprentice at work is only 16 and he's helped his dad restore a mk1 escort Mexico I think it is (light blue with dark blue stripe) and wants a yb powered mk1 escort himself so not all is lost

Majority of kids these days want new stuff, it's so easy to get in to a new car these days so there is no need for a youngster to need or want to tinker with something older.

Give it another 10-15 years and I don't think there will be any love for cossies etc!

I totally agree I have been saying this for a while, I'm only 22 and I really like cossies but all my mates don't like them and prefer more capable imprezas and evos ect. Most cossies owners will mostly be in their 40's I highly doubt there will be much interest in 15 years, I mean what youngster wants an old ford that's only causes paranoia pmsl

Don't know what it's like in the UK, But young lads love Sierras over here! (Although most of them are non cosworth)

How many are even left? The amount stolen, burnt out, crashed, broken for parts must be astronomical. Just look how many classic Fords have a YB fitted.

Getting a decent Cosworth is getting harder and harder. Prices arn't going to go bonkers, But I can see a decent Cosworth with MOT going for the £15k mark in a short few years.

There will always be young guys into Cosworths, I bought mine in January (At 20) Even though I can't drive the fucker for another 5 years due to insurance! I still love everything Cosworth!

I've noticed that gum tree is covered in Sierras from Ireland with welded dIffs ect all going for strong money. The weird thing is all the adds always say in the description (not bora, golf, 306, xsara, twin cam) lol you tell if a car is forsale in Ireland as all their titles are like that lol

I guess as the price of the 3 doors appear to be shooting up, the ripple effect is the next in line cosworth will begin to increase.

I too had noticed there is little under £10k that I would want to get involved in, either too modified, knackered or no history.

Not sure if it is just a summer thing and prices maybe settle come winter? Saying that, I purchased my car with ice on the roof in Fife in December and once I'd decided I was going to get one I didn't care what the weather was like..

Time will tell what happens to prices of Cosworths. Mk1 Escorts, Lotus Cortina's & 60's sporting Fords have not fallen in price so maybe they will follow suit. I will be pushing up daisies in 15 years time so I wont be around to find out.

If I'd not picked mine up in bits for a couple of k I'd never have had another, rule of cossies you buy it for 15k you need another 15k to put it right.

The question you have to ask is are they actually selling at that price?

One person chances his arm and asks 10k for an average Saph, then everyone else thinks theirs it worth 10k so chucks them up for sale. It doesn't mean they're actually worth 10k...

This seems to happen a lot in the Ford world!

Wouldn't be surprised and they are the first to get ripped to bits and probably most likely to get nicked over the years as they used to be cheap and parked out on the street ect.

Don't know if how manys left is accurate to go by.

Yup, The scene here with young lads is Diesel Audi A4, VW Passats and Golfs/Boras. Done 'Felt Spec' Massive visors, Cheap coilovers, Replica Wheels, Powerflow exhausts and make it boo/choo.

Then you have the RWD guys, So Altezzas/IS200 anything BMW & Sierras.

Most of the RWD guys know what a Cosworth is, But can't afford one. Hence nearly every 'Cosworth' you see here is a replica.

If anyone is half thinking of buying an E36 325i/328i M-Sport, Do it now. Even a 318is.
Guarantee there next to rocket up in price over the next few years.

There are now more 3 doors than Sapphires. The good Sapphire Cosworths will start to increase in value as they get rarer and rarer.
