whats better 306 gti or rs2000 mk6???

The 306 is in a different league. One of the best front wheel drive cars out there.
Having said that. Any one who tells you a mk6 rs2000 is shut obviously hasn't owned one cus there cracking little cars aswell

The 306 is quicker and sharper, but the RS is just a good all rounder. I'm just a big fan of the shape, the Recaros are awesome, the engine is torquey and more civilised on the motorway than the 306. It's also cheap to run, economical and if it's a good one and kept that way it will only increase in value.

As this is a Ford forum I think the majority of answers will say the RS. On paper the GTi is far better but I would say go and drive both. Heart says RS, head says Pug. Both have their problems - RS : rust, Pug : usual French electrics etc. Think you would have to spend a lot of money to get the RS to keep up with the GTi.Personally wouldn't mind either.had a mk6 and they are great cars.

If you want a very good example of the RS for sensible money, have a look at mine in the for sale section. No rust on the body at all, or underneath and has so many new parts its like a new car, so all the usual issues sorted.

Went in a 306 gti really fast well handling cars but do suffer from usuall french electrics and cambelts!
Had an rs2k and loved it. Not as quick but id say better to live with! Apart from the dreaded rust! Plus they will only go up in value!
As a ford man id say rs2k but wouldnt really mind a gti either!

Yeah think if i got another RS I'd be wishing I'd gone for the Pug but don't think I'd be thinking the same if it was the other way round. The RS2k never really got to the top of the hot hatch pile but the 306 was up there, must be something in that. When you take your Ford head off I'm sure the 306 does almost everything better really.

I'd say overall the pug would be a better buy.
I've had an rs2000 engined cabriolet and it's a very strong lump and as said quite economical but I'd say no better than the pug with it's extra gear.
Fords do rust badly and that was one of the worst examples of it,very often they can look mint on the outside but rotten structurally.
Don't be fooled into thinking the cam chain lasts forever either,my mates had one go years ago on the mk5 version and the car was a dog so it ended up owing him about Ł5000!!!!
To me,the pug handles better,is faster, just as reliable and rusts less.
Plus points for the ford are slightly cheaper parts and marginally better electrics(remember fusebox issues),if you get a good one also should hold it's value very well.

Exactly my thoughts.
They're nippy enough and from memory they're pretty good on the jungle juice too... I ran one as a daily a few years back and thought it was a brilliant car. Gave it a really hard time and could rely on it to start in the morning and get me to work, excellent daily drive option if you can get a good one.

Having owned both.
Having done a trip to the ring in an RS2k as well as a daily
Having driven 110miles a day for 6months in the 306
I can't honestly understand why anyone would pick an RS2k over a 306.
The only benefit the RS has is the front seats.
The 306 is simply awesome and in the real world is simply incredible and on track another world.
RS2k is wank in comparison.

GTi6's are fantastic cars!
Only drove my first one last week and gota say, you wouldn't want a standard RS2K over one.
Standard to standard the 306 wins by miles!!!
But a well prepared RS2000 would win over the 306 but that's not your question is it.
306 every day of the week! (in standard)

RS for me. Seats are nicer, interior is better screwed together, and the Pug is just a bit flimsy in general.
A mate of mine had one and it didn't feel noticeably quicker than a standard RS I don't think. It does handle better, without a doubt, but I think the shonky gearchange and shit interior let it down as a road car for me.

306 does handle better and might be a touch quicker, but I think the interior really lets it down. It feels like a boggo XN inside, and the clutch etc are the usual awful French crap.
It's a shame, cos it's a nice looking car, especially in Phase 3 form, and has a good chassis, but it doesn't feel a complete package to me with such a shonky interior, and the clutch/gear shift spoil it a bit, but then I've never liked that in any French hot hatch I've driven.
Each to their own at the end of the day

Exactly mate each to there own...but seriously my thoughts and ways are different to yours I'm young enough to accept the shonky interior and gear change... But I woudnt accept the rust that many fords suffer especially the rs2k... But like you say both great cars for different people.
