Default R33 Skylines

my mates offered me his skyline its an r33 gtst (L Reg), the usual mods...

18" alloys, air filter, exhaust, gtr rear spoiler e.t.c
its got 80k miles on it, looks very good condition..

now i have a rough idea what a gtr is worth but no idea what a gtst is worth? hes offered me the car for 2500 is this a good price?? going rate?

i'm thinking i could smoke round in it for a bit then just sell it back on?

are they reliable? easy tuneable?

Wont be the easiest thing to sell back on to be honest, pics would help.. but if its standard GTS-T on the outside (apart from the Rear Spoiler) then it'll look pretty toss and I'd want to get it for under £2000 if I was just planning to run it around for a bit and punt it on without losing much cash.

Cheers,
Grant

Seems going rate for a good one. A little overpriced if anything depending on condition etc...

If you buy it, you'll always wish you'd saved up a bit more and got a GT-R!!!

They just seem to get cheaper and cheaper.

I did think about buying one last year, but the insurance puts me off, couldn't find it for less than a grand, twice what I'd pay on a Cossie!

From what you've said about the spec, I doubt it'd go as well as a 300bhp S14a either.

I would want to be paying under £2000 for a GTST, as Dan said you will always wish you saved for a GTR.

spec 1 binliner is actually 1360 kg a spec 2 is 1460kg the r33 gtr is 1590kg

the s14a has alloy bonnet ,wings and bootlid so they could be sub 1300kg

problem with saving for the gtr is its alot more money! i'm allowing myself around 4k tops on spending out and as its impossible to get a nice GTR for that!

if i can spend out 2k on this and have just as much fun and with regards to insurance i can happpily pay 560... when i had my 200sx i was paying 2500 a year! (i was around 19/20!!)

i've researched and found rising sun performance to an "upgrade" kit for around 2grand which pushes the skyline out at 400bhp... surely cheap bang for buck!

thanks every1 for your inputs!!

I thought 2.5k sounded quite fair for a gtst, I don't see any point buying a GTR unless your going to tune it highly. Plus with all the weight of a gtr will it feel that much quicker than the gtst in question?

in comparison to a saph a gtst is just better all round to start with in my opinion, but a gtr is even better, the off the line pace of a gtr is awesome, the one thing i miss about my gtr is 7000 rpm drop the clutch and 0 - 60 in 3 seconds they are great cars im looking to add an r33 gtr to my garage soon.

I'm not much into jap cars tbh but if I would buy such a car then a less overhyped one like a wicked Charade GTti or Mazda 323 Turbo 4WD or a Mazda MX5 Turbo, very nice cars....... but nothing can beat a cosworth IMO, it's not only about the power you can create, it is the legendery status.

But if you need a nice sprint buy a Ford RS200 Evo, accelerates like a rocket
0 - 60 in 1.8 seconds or 2.1 seconds cuz of traction problems !!! It is not for nothing the best accelerating car in the world (official).

A 300bhp GTR feels very slow compared to a 300 bhp GTST!

Its mainly the way the GTR delivers its power to the road, they are quick, but it does its thing without drama!

That price for a GTST with those mods is about right at the moment

Thats why I bought a 4x4 saff as a daily and a GTST as a toy

It really depends what you want , but GTST seem to have dropped value over the last year, IMO £2000 would be a better price , you will always get your cash back.

And from the spec you said , a 300bhp S14 would leave the GTST for dead

Like the YB they are very tunable though , just make sure you got deep pockets
