Default Fitting a remote iscv

My YB does not run any idle control and the usual place for it is blocked by a injector rail so I need to remote mount one.

2 things that I just need to be sure of before I look at installing one are :

Is there a particular place on the plenum to add a fitting ? I have been told the bottom side isn't ideal which makes sense due to dirt etc..

Will the ecu just reconize the fact there is now a iscv fitted or will something on the map need switching on or adjusting ?

Ecu is Motec M48 for those familiar with it.

Last thing would be that if I wanted to run ALS am I best fitting two iscv's or just modifying the one ? I'm struggling to think where to run one pipe from the plenum let alone 2 so running 2 valves might actually be impossible.

Thanks in advance.

My new one is being fed into the plenum on the back of the elbow towards the top, then fed by a pipe coming from i/cooler so it sees the same pressure each side, I'm using a KA one.

I don't know that ecu at all, but no doubt it has some idle strategy in it to run a iscv of some description, you may well need to go into the ecu to turn it on, if not already ?, and tell the ecu what sort of iscv it is, whether you want mapped or fixed position etc to control it, you can always test it's working by going into live set up, and raising the speed to see that it increases.
As regards getting enough air in for ALS, a KA one will flow plenty enough air imo to do this, if not there are other iscv's with much more flow capacity, if the ecu can do fly by wire you could always use a motorised tb you would defo have enough air then if the ecu can control the/a fly by wire tb ?

Cheers Tabs. There is a remote mount available on ebay which I had planned to use but that would mean using a modified Cosworth iscv so certainly not as cheap as the setup your going to use.

As for the setup I will have to find someone that deals with Motec as I have no idea, it definitely doesn't do fly by wire as its the older model, the loom has been made with both iscv and als plugs, the original loom had iscv plug but there wasn't a valve for it, although there may of been once as the 8 injector setup was only fitted a short while before I got the car and I'll presume the Motec had been on it for a while.

I'll get the ecu powered up and see if I can find anything on there do with it.

I run 2 on mine James. 1 for ALS in the normal position on the throttle body and one remote in a proper Weber housing for the idle which takes it's air from just before the throttle and sends it direct in to the centre of the plenum.

Cheers Stu

After a bit of reading up it would appear the m48 doesn't do particularly great idle control so I'll just use the one remote mounted valve as there isn't a fitting on the throttle body

Some have used the bosch ones as used on the V6 vaux's etc as they are about 3/4 - 1" in diameter holes!!

Yeh the Vauxhall ones are very big, I have considered those.

Here is a pic of the inlet, the 2nd pic has a red dot where I thought about putting a fitting, what do you think ?

Can't you just rotate the throttle body 90 or 180 degrees?

I believe the iscv is designed to work in upright position ? Maybe someone can confirm that

ISCV will work in any orientation, but the thing you have to watch is residue will be on the lower surfaces, so if upside down will run in to the iscv and cause it's own issues.
It could certain go where the red dot is, though you'd need to remove the red dot first ha ha!!

nowi have seen the picture there is no reason why you could not turn the throttle body so your throttle linkage is on the bottom & your iscv is coming out the side ,as said they will work in any orientation .

My engine had this fitted in the same place, you can just see it on the elbow ..

the air came in from a tee off on the charge cooler and then went to a remote body before returning via the elbow .

I would imagine now I have thought about it that the tps will foul on the fuel rail.
