Default Audi s3s what to look out for?.......

Right off to view a s3 tomorrow afternoon, the missus has decided this will be her next car after having a mk4 golf for 5+ years.

Whats your thoughts? anything to look for? etc etc

Great car, watch for wear in the front suspension components as these have to be replaced with OEM items as all pattern ones are total crap! Not all that quick out the box and the suspension always seems a bit too soft on them, make sure the Haldex 4x4 is working properly as the torque split is controled electronically to the back wheels, if it goes West it will be FWD

Only an issue when services are skipped. If the oil is changed when it should be this is not a problem.

Had one a few years back and the water pump went which is apparently pretty common as the plasic blades brake up.

Get used to that mate. I went on a hunt for a friends first car. The amount of polished up shit, actually often not even polished, was unreal. Must have viewed 20 cars that were junk before a gem turned up. Didn't make any difference whether they were private or trade sales either, equally as bad as each other

Wouldn't worry too much about the mileage as long as the car's good. My 1.8T A4 has 145k under it's belt and still goes spot on despit eme thrashing the crap out of it for 60k miles. lol

Same with the 1.8t golf my missus has 150k now, and never misses a beat!, she does loads of trackdays in it, and generally abuses it hard lol, but it just carrys on!
