Default focus rs plug cracked already, only a weeks tinkering

i have got my xr2 zetec turbo running now, but yesterday it was running like a pig, so today i checked leads and plugs, one plug has cracked on the ceramic.
luckily it was on the rocker cover side not in the engine.
so that explains the misfire, but how did it happen?
it's not been driven anywhere really, just been tweaking with the idle fuelling a couple of days only, egt's aren't high and no other plug has suffered.
they are motorcraft NGK laser platinum plugs, are the denso ones better? if so i'm off to MSD to get some tomorrow.

are you sure they didn't get damaged when you either fitted or removed them and that your plug socket is a good fit on them because they are really easy to brake with a badley fitting plug socket,

i have a torque wrench specific for spark plugs (pre-set) and plug socket is the same one I've used for the last couple of years and rubber was intact etc.
who knows, maybe too fragile from manufacture.

NGK's have been fine in the past, thought i'd get genuine frs ones due to engine spec, but already let me down.
i think some denso itv27's may be in order if they get a good review, MSD sell them and only half an hour away.

You sure you didn't accidentally nick it with the socket when you were giving it some? Easily done.

i always put plug in socket then fit to head, no nicks in it, just two long cracks through to core in only one plug.

I've had a few plugs crack on my FRS, usually just after fitting or removal, they break easily and I have top quality plug socket and even that cracks them occasionally. Only seems to do it on my FRS though and not my other zetecs

brilliant, more opinions on the other side of the fence lol!
i might just pop to ford and see if they have any in at the robbing price lol!
if not, off to try the denso's and keep the ford ones as spares when a replacement is sorted.
