My Dad is looking into a 2nd car whilst his mk2 frs is being re-painted etc, and after the work has been done its just gonna be used as a toy rather than day to day, so what do people think of the st220's any bad things i should know etc?

being a mondeo freak, i'd only question why that car hasn't got the chrome option

the low mileage would also tend to indicate that it's been sat around for a while and was a late registered 05 which is actually got a build date of maybe a year earlier when the chrome dress up wasn't available

door handles, window strips, grille, fog light surrounds and rear lights is what should be shiny chrome

sounds too much like a dealer car too hence the price

not trying to put you off, but it's something you need to keep in mind

Nothing he just wants it fully repainted in Rosso corsa red, with a few more mods, it's then gonna be summer use car and toy.

Dojj the cars not at a dealers I've spoken to the bloke and he sounds a office type business man, he's had the car 3 years with full history etc, was the chrome not an optional extra or that ?

I think the (horrid IMO) chrome trim was part of a 'face lift' in 05. There were some minor trim changes inside too, red stitching and the like but that may have been the ST TDCI only, can't remember..

I had a '54 plate st220 estate and loved it in ink blue without the chrome stuff.

So as already mentioned it's probably a late registered, early model. I noticed it does not have the leather recaro interior so that will also knock the price down, no sat nav either. IIRC the leather was a Ł1500 option when new and the sat nav wasn't cheap either ...

probably best to get an option list and tick off how many it has 'cause that is a strong price IMO, for a car with what looks like very few of the available options...

HTH

Starting to put me off now, I did think the money was strong but he did say he was open to offers, So if I could get it for 5800 - 5900 with only 43k I didn't think was to bad, the sat nav is a let down I agree but yeah I'll check the full on viewing, can anyone tell me what a st220 should come with fully loaded, that way i can tick off what it hasn't got and barter

Have a good look around at others for sale and if you can get a fully loaded one, same condition and miles for less money then it's up to you what you want to spend on it.

From memory the main cost items were :

Heated leather recaro interior in black red or cream/grey
Sat nav
Xenon headlights

Others included
rear parking sensors, puddle lights, the rear seat based lifted up for children to sit a little higher, rear window tints. I'm sure there are other ones that I cannot think of right now.

Fantastic cars, but you really have to go find one with all the toys for it to be worth how thirsty they are. They have really come down a lot lately due to the high roadtax but if i could insure one id have one in a heartbeat. My pops has had 2 in the past few years and still wishes he had one now.

Going by that list it's not missing to much, sat nav clearly not there but power roof is not mentioned in the description either, I'll just go view it's not far from me and of course I don't have to buy it.

i think the later ones came with climate controleld seats, so not just heated you could cool them aswell with fans built into the seats for those hot days

never seen one with a sunroof as all come with aircon

cracking cars though, aslong as its been looked after as bottom ends do go on them and that dreading mossing noise is horrendous when it happens which is down to the breather system

it's got xenons and they all came with hot and cold seats on the facelift

not all came with a sunroof though but if it did they were all powered

no satnav or full proper recaros but everything else is there, including puddle lights and folding mirrors etc
