Default Improving reliability with an MTX75

Hi

We are just building an MTX75 for my new project and after reading story after story about the FWD boys blowing gearboxes for fun, I was wondering if there is anything else that can be done to improve reliability.

I have a new 2008 box with new bearings, diesel gears, uprated diff bearings and a quaife ATB. Is there anything internally (and not £4k ) that can be done to minimize killing the box.

Power wise will be supplied by a 400-450bhp duratec turbo

It's the best production Ford box you can get for your application, Si. If you launch it then it will die, if you look after it, it won't.

I know they are Mark, hence ditching the IB5 for one. I would rather look a noob and realise there is an improvement I can make than build the box and think I should have done it afterwards. It will be getting some launches at pod so any improvement is good as the ST doesn't suit the back of a green flag lorry

The biggest improvement you could make would not be to the box itself but to how your power is deliverd.

Have the engine mapped on a dyno and with an air injector for boost control, that way your boost is mapped against throttle angle and more accurately it would be if trying to map a 400bhp Fiesta on the road.
