Do you mean E36?

If so the Evo model can have quite a few Vanos problems I believe.

Was chatting to a mate and was blabbing something about changing the vanos filters at a cost of about Ł30 and 15 minutes work to keep the system happy

oranoco i think the lack of filter changes is part of the problem and some places do tend to just change them with out diagnosing the issue properly,,,,,,, the next stage of wrong diagnosed problems on vehicles is EGR vavles,,,, well sell fucking LOADS of them at work and then get a call back a few weeks later when the light comes back on again

im sure there aint much to them if you take the time how they work ect

swings and round abouts on that one really

the evo can come with ally doors and off set top mounts but 6 speed and double vanos

the 3.0ltr is geared better and is more for the holligon

but like all bmw's they get speced when bought new so search for the right car and go for black vaders not silver as they look shit

and coupe is the best
dont bother with vert or hard top they are heavey

mine was 3.0ltr with
full supersprint exhaust
remap
dave f induction kit

gave 326 bhp on evolves rollers and was quicker than a evo with similer mods due to gearing being better

granted he pulled at the top but that dont count on A roads

Thats why i sold my Saph, was turning into an expensive ornament.

The BM is more of an allrounder, and "the box needed ticked" so to speak.

because you dont have the worry of

whats that noise or did you feel that or whats that smell

not all cosworths are like that dont get me wrong but you must admit the m3 is a better car that does what it does better than than the ford if you know what im saying

but i love both and regardless i would still go for the cosworth as the only thing the m3 dont give and thats the smile factor

when you get one give me a shout as there is a quick and easy mod to the clutch system that needs doing

as there is something that stops the clutch from engaging to quickley to avoid wheel spin

if you dont do the said tweek you will get slight clutch slip

nothing you will notice but extra wear on the clutch that will kill it alot quicker

As said above, steer clear of SMG. Thats the one bit of advice i got.
My "must" was black leather, but gave up in the end. Surprised how few have black, and theres loads to choose from too!!! If i cant live with the silver/grey, full black interior is only Ł400ish on ebay, and a day to change.
Coupe or Conv didnt bother me, as long as the car was right.

Clutch delay valve if anyone's wondering what the mod is. Supposed to stop driveline shock from racing starts.
M3 is a nice all-rounder - I'd always take the Cosworth for a special Saturday morning runout in preference though. It's different in the same way the E30 M3 is compared to the later E36 M3

E36s are good value for money though - run one as my daily knockabout whne the roads are salty
