Default Playing HD files...?

Other than playing blu-rays in the PS3, how can I play 'downloaded blu rays?

For PS3 you have to format external hard drive to FAT32, which is a pain to put large files on...

Streaming is not an option, so how else?

Anyone use a WD HD TV?

thanks

Fat32 drives will not accept files larger than 4.7 (I think) gig anyway so that rules out most blueray rips.

NTFS is the file system for larger files but the PS3 dont accept that.

There is a device called an xtreamer, they use a laptop hard drive (so you can specify whatever size you like depending on budget).

If streaming is not an option you can play the film/media straight from the devices own drive (it has HDMI out). Or if in the future you can stream they have an ethernet port or wireless and you can stream from another network point.

They will play just about any format you throw at them, but you can read a bit more about them here:

i tend to download to my laptop (which is HD anyway) and then play the video through the DV-I out onto my TV and the sound is then fed through the headphone socket in the laptop and into my pyromat gaming chair

it works as my laptop outputs 1080p directly onto my tv.

do you want to sell one of the WD HD ?

Question, I dont want to stream, so can they be connected to TV direct? so usb into WD un it, then WD to TV.. hope that makes sense.

Only have a netbook and its not great at streaming.

Chop - A mate has 1200 blu ray downloads so is filling up some external drives for me

Westy, at my gf's there is only a laptop, but I copy files to the internal PS3 drive which takes a few mins, then watch from there.

not selling one, I've got one in the lounge and one in the bedroom.

The WD connects to the TV via HDMI, and has 2 usb ports for hard drives or pens.

I lent my 2nd one to a few guys at work, with a couple of mkv's on a pen drive, and they all went out and got one.

Yes mate, the internal HD is not FAT32. I use PS Media server, goto the file, click triangle and copy.

Westy make sure you order the WDTV Live or Live Plus (Don't know if this is out here yet) as the 1st gen WDTV's don't support DTS audio.
