Default Focus Mk1 Central Locking Help

Focus Year 2001

Good News - Remote Control key is now working. W..h..o..o!

Bad News - Passenger side door is not locking or unlocking with the remote.

This door starts to work normally when its been slammed shut two times. But unfortunately - the remedy is short lived.

There may be a cable or connector loose or at fault.

What should I look at first? Would appreciate any pointers.

Or better still - is there a mobile central locking expert who can fix it - I am in Stanmore HA7.
Let me have contact number.

Danny

Have now managed to open the door card and can access the door lock assembly.
Have been told its probably the door lock assembly and motor.
I can do this work.
Just need to access cheap parts.
the part numbers are F4057969 driver side and F4057982 passenger side.
They are Ł102 each from Ford dealer.
Cant seem to locate cheaper.
Can anybody help

Tks in advance

Danny

Thanks Phil.

Do you think that price I've been quoted is about right?

I am waiting on a breakers yard

When I get it out of the door - sure to try that.

Would you recommend silicon lubricant or is there a another better one to use on door locks?

Ł100 +vat from ford is about what i was quoted for a rear lock on my mk1 focus. got one from a breakers for Ł25 all in. althoug it doesnt exactly match the old one as when i press the unlock button once to just open the drivers doow it opens the rear door with the salvaged lock in it too

still i'm not fussed about that as i normally open the whole car up anyway

How did you check that the Ł25 unit was working when you bought it?
Or did you know it worked when you fitted it.
