Default Injector problem

Hi all i have a mk 6 escort with a 2litre zetec engine in, the other day i accidently let the petrol run very low and i think this caused problems with the injectors, basically it started to jolt very badly and kept cutting out. I parked it up over night and it would not start the next morning, it had no spark. I was told it would not spark if there was something wrong with the injectors, so my other halfs brother and his mate who did the engine conversion changed the injectors and it started straight up. The problem is its running like a pile of poo now, at low revs it stutters and has no power at full throttle as if its holding back, i have more power at 3 quater throttle and even then it struggles to rev properly. I changed the fuel filter too just as a precaution. Any ideas as whats wrong?
Many thanks J

Possibly the fuel pump is buggered if it sucked a lot of crap in, the fact that the car started with new injectors is just chance a knackered injector cannot stop it sparking.

The in tank fuel pump has a filter on its intake, so surely that cannot had sucked up 'crap'? Unless it fell off?

Plus, with all the cornering a car does, and on low fuel, everything is going to get sloshed around, so thinking that all the 'crap' sits at the bottom waiting to get sucked up into the fuel system is not the case surely?

I think the low fuel and jolting the next day is just coincidental and your problem is ignition related, either coil pack wiring, spark plugs or HT leads.

Unfortunately the filter strainer on the in tank pumps don't always stop everything and some does get through, that's why the injectors have filter baskets in the top of them also.

Thats true Tabatha

Are the injectors plugged in the correct order?

Is the CPS ok?

Are you running a MAF? if yes, is it working ok?
