Default Agreed Guaranteed Payout on Insurnace

Is there such a thing?

My insurance is up for renewal and at the mo i havent actually declared my car modified as it has only recently all been done.

Im with a crap company at the moment as th car was standard but now i want to move to a better one for modded cars.

Thing is, when i declare everything the insurance quote is gonna shoot up and then if it gets nicked then they're gonna give me about £200 book value for a Ford Fiesta.

So where do i stand - i dont want to do anything illegal but if im paying more - i wanna get a good payout.

Any help you can offer...?

you can get this, i have it with adrian flux. they just asked for some photos of the car and its sorted. depending on what car it is you could also look at classic policy, that will make it alot cheaper if its a second car but you wont get any no claims on it.

Yep, counts me out too - im 22. Its so annoying cos im still a student so i do need a cheap quote and its horrible thinking that all that time, money and effort could go down the pan if some frig decides that they want it.

I mean, it is only a Fiesta but that doesnt mean it hasnt cost anything to put together and i really dont know what to do.

Does it cost more with a guranteed amount?

Do elephant guarantee an amount too then?

no, just bare in mind you wont earn any no claims bonus on a classic policy but it will be cheaper. for instance, i lost all my no claims when my old rs got stolen and adrian flux cover me fully comp with no ncb and agreed valuation for just over 800quid! 650tpft it would have been. think thats a bargain myself!!

If you get no lick with any of the above companies, try Dominion, as my car has agreed value with them, but they won't insure under 25's on any more mods than stg1 on a cossie, and being 23 and having stg2 fitted, that has counted me out this year round Worth a try though, might work out for ya, good luck.

Just got off the phone - dunno whether its good or not?!

I would get a guaranteed payout subject to six colour photographs with £50,000 of cover in health and all that sort of stuff, £200 excess (which is good, cos at the mo its £550)! Bad part - £1323.

Is that good?

Thing is, i did say the engine will be changed and declared all the mods and this is the first time of starting on my own policy.

Dunno what to do now!

Yeah exactly. At the moment insured as a standard fiesta with a 1.0 and as a named driver its £420. When i looked into a 1.6 and in my own name i was quoted £600 from Virgin - but that was without mods.

With this one i would get a guaranteed payout (dunno What) and its all legal but over a grand makes my entire bank account scream!

its only a done up Fiesta but the engine will be changed from 1.0 to 1.6???

420 quid as a named driver on a 1.0 festa
600 quid on a 1.6 festa
Keep ringing round, those prices seem pretty high. Or, marry a footballer

I think luck has packed its suitcase and scarpered
It might be a good price, cause it does depend on where you live, previous convictions etc...., and I don't know your whole story. But I would definatly say keep trying, I think you'll be able to get it lower than that. I was first quoted 3.5k on me cos, and got it down to 1100 quid, so it goes to show. I hate it, its not as if your a different person everytime you phone someone else, so whats with the price difference? Anyway, happy hunting

that quote is a bit high!! was that a classic policy? is the car garaged... or do you have one at the property? did you ask what is would be like without the engine conversion? to se the difference it would make. may be cheaper to buy a 1.6 xr2i for a few hundred and insure that instead of the conversion...?

They said they couldnt do classic. the cars kept on the street and ive got three point for speeding.

I asked whether it makes a difference with the engine and he said no not at all really as long as ive got a receipt from a reputable garage who fitted and checked it.

Im pretty stuck now!

Ive just put a post on here cos i dunno whats a good deal...?

I bought the engine, gearbox, brakes, exhaust and absolutely everything for £100 and its all in excellent condition.

Ive been quoted £250 to get the old one out and the new one in.

But basically the reason why im changing is cos the clutch has gone, theres an oil leak, it smokes so to get all that fixed i thought it cheaper to buy an engine and box that i know works really well.

Dyou reckon thats a good price?
