I know that on nearly every car forum i go on that a car trying to impersonate another car is looked down upon.
Altough I do not like it myself, I just love the look of the murcielago kit. Now with the mr2 as the donor car,it is never trully going to live up to the name, but what if a space frame was used and a lot more powerful engine. Would it still not get the recognition it deserves ?

the point in them is obvious, its to allow people who otherwise couldnt own a ferrari, own a ferrari. or in this case a lamboughini. only problem is, those of us who have eyes can see that is nothing like the real thing and infact awful! but i doubt my mum could tell it was a kitcar just in the street along with alot of other people

There are SOME really good replicas, the lambo ones tend to be the best, there are a few good Ferrari ones but those ones based on MR2s just don't look right because they're not long enough. You can tell them a mile off.
But I saw a Lambo one for sale not long ago and it was incredible, you honestly wouldn't have been able to tell the difference, by looks, quality of build or sound. It was nearly Ł40k though and sold very quickly.

depends on the car. eg the lotus seven replicas such as westfield, caterhams etc are far better performance cars than the originals.
also some cars are just too rare to be realistically affordable.
eg the prices of original AC cobras, GT40's etc is horrendous. you need well over a hundred grand for a decent original, some times many times that!! Yet most good quality kit car replicas of cobras and GT40's can be built to handle and drive better than the origianal at a price your average guy can afford. Many such kit cars are considered good cars in thier own rights....
