I think it's being shown again in the cinema, re touched, hd blah blah etc

Don't know if they are doing a new one, Would Michael J Fox be up to that for heath reasons ? Doesn't he have Parkinson's or something ?

I thought they were just reworking it for HD.

As far as remakes go, I wish they'd leave these old films alone. We watched The Karate Kid the other day and it's an 'OK' film, not as good as the original, not by a long shot. Surely there are enough ideas these days to make films about without having to cash in on old ideas.

Is the "Karate Kid" remake that you mention that film recently about a kid who learns KUNG FU?

Are they planning on doing a followup called "The baseball kid" about a kid who learns to play cricket?

Your right there bud, and its a big gamble too imo, as it can ruin the legacy that some of the classics have acquired over time!

I like that idea, its when they try to remake them with new actors etc.

Can you imagine when they get hold of stuff like Top Gun, Days of Thunder etc etc? Those films were great in their day, classics infact, and still VERY enjoyable to watch now, but I wouldn't be slightly interested in watching a remake. If they want to make a romantic/action film about a fighter-pilot training school or Nascar racing, fair enough, but make it a new concept with a new script IMO.

Dan, no it would have to be a remake for days of thunder or you wouldnt get the "he didnt smash into you, he didnt bump you and he didnt nudge you, he rubbed you, and rubbing son, is racing!" line

As for remakes...

Knight Rider anyone?

Its an example of how not to do it.

Batman, now that was worth it.

1.21 gigawatts

Young Biff: Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
Old Biff: It's *leave*, you idiot! "Make like a tree, and leave." You sound like a damn fool when you say it wrong.
Young Biff: All right then, LEAVE! And take your book with you!

if they made them "classic" films today, would they be the same though?

would they fuck, they'd be classed as pants and would flop big time

the only reason they were big back in the day is because they were for that era, things like the good the bad and the ugly, would you go and watch a film at the cinema that was 3 hours long?

the classics should be viewed as such, classic films that take you back to your childhood etc to relive your happier days when you didn't have a care in the world other than what you were having for dinner and an excuse as to why you didn't do your homework

Nah, this will never happen. Always been a big fan of the franchise and kept track on the "stories".

There was a story that Michael J. Fox was interested in playing Doc in a 4th film, with a new younger cast being added. But due to health problems, it just won't happen.

Plus, the Delorean was destroyed in the 3rd film,......who the hell wants to watch a film about a time travelling locomotive?!?!

But Ghostbusters 3 is deffo happening!!!

I've pre-ordered the £67.99 Blu Ray box set from Play with the Delorean model. Mrs thinks I'm mad but there's some films justified on DVD and Blu Ray. Upscaled DVD via the PS3 it looks good, but you should see all the Xtra's with it such as an Almanac, and an Outtatime numberplate, deleted sxenes and stuff. I can't see how you'd replace Fox and Lloyd as the main characters for a remake, i mean The A-Team was ok, but it was never as epic as the original series, same with The Dukes Of Hazzard, same with Knight Rider 2000 with K.I.T.T not being in a Trans Am. I'm wanting to go to the pictures this weekend and watch it, just need a purple T-shirt, denim jacket and a red life preserver pmsl. I have as close to Marty's Nike's as I can find at the moment. At sencondary school instead of Geography me and a mate dedicated an A5 booklet to Back To The Future mistakes.
