Bikers are the problem in my opinion.
Hi Lee

If you are going 20 times a year then I agree - you are going an awful lot more times than my twice a year.

Perhaps it was just this weekend then. It wasnt just one incident this weekend however I must say.

On the matter of bikers, we agree. I just dont understand what happens for them to come off at such alarming regularity. If I were on a bike, it would probably take me around 20 minutes to get around the track

Biker = BAD

i think the problem you are saying JJ is more that the particular "group" of people that ranted these cars this time round were tards as oposed to everyone using this company being tards...?

Would that be because of its power to weight ratio?

DMS - On the todo list once the last warranty inspection is done at the end of this year!!! (tick tock tick tock!!)
KW - Still a bit nervous about doing this for road comfort reasons I must admit. Also fancy the X73 route which is a bit less dedicated, but possibly a little more compliant on road.

I have a friend about to buy a 997 GT3 Mk1, so the matters above may get pushed up the timetable

Hi guys, long time lurker here. Iv had my 996 turbo for about a year. Came with a remap, unknown but pulls 1.1 bar so doesnt hang about. Fast, really properly fast, even after owning a 350 bhp cossie.

Mines a non x50 car, think porkies is an x50 so can be tuned more , everyone knows his car, not like hes a self -publicist or anything. (only jokin mate ). Im doing the 6 pot conversion next week, got all the parts together now.

The Kw's are supposed to be a good but very exspensive, used set on pistonheads went for £1100 last week!. x73 is factory developed so might be good. Any suspension drop may cause some drawbacks but looks hard as nails i reckon!

These cars are soo well developed, you can feel it in everyway, so docile, good ride, and 3 cars in one, supercar, gt cruiser, and a pussy magnet. just buy a good car, dont skimp.

Hi Mark

Nice car choice in my completely unbiassed opinion! I also have a non-x50 car (my preferred option unless you want big power [due to boost characteristics]).

Big brake conversion is a must and a piece of cake! If you have any probs, pm me, and I will be happy to help!

Only advice I can think of other than making sure that you have all of the right parts is that the brake hose connector can be very very stiff! Plenty of lubricant and patience is needed to remove these successfully! the pipe ideally should be replaced, or in the alternative, you will need to slightly co-erce the lines to the new positon to align properly with the calipers.

I dont think there is a cheap set of suspension for the car - even the X73 kit will set you back around £1600 odd for the parts, though it does include engine mounts.

I would agree about the lowering though -it is going to be a little tricky getting over a few of the local speed humps!

I dont normally get involved with these type of threads tbh but, I have had a play with a 997 Turbo with the taxi.

Very interesting really, the 911 obviously pulled so much harder coming out of the bends due to the bigger capacity, and varible twins. I even tried guessing when he would go coming out of corners so i could put my foot down early to give me a fighting chance, didnt work as i would get so close i would have to back off and then he would put his foot down and pull an easy 5-6 car lengths.

3rd gear was about level and 4th i pulled the gap back level, the lad then hit the brakes which i cant fault him on as it would have gone into silly speeds. The lad gave me the thumbs up and i went infront. I was infront when we had another play up a hill and again 3rd nothing in it and 4th i just pulled away up the hill before backing off when i went for 5th. The lad flashed his lights as i turned off and put his thumb up again.

I know it doesnt show anything but thought i would put it up anyway. It was nice for me to have a play with one as i have allways been and massive 911 fan and allways will be, i would love a turbo, GT2 or a maybe a GT3 if funds ever allow it. Helps that the Mrs is a big 911 fan aswell so i have that on my side. Everyone says they are so easy to live with everyday which fills you with confidence. They are in another league to a Shonkey old Ford and anyone who says other wise is a well............ a bit thick. I would have one tomoro if i had the cash!

its really good you gave it a shot with the porsche .winning is not always the point.most of the people who own one got the cash and not the skills or the balls, so it was a 50-50.besides they are good only for str8 lines . i take on faster car on curvy roads, cause probably they can step on it in a str8 but cant turn it.2wd cossie

the front lips arent expensive... and they take a TOTAL beating and still look fine as long as you leave them in the original black plastic they come in and dont paint them.

You wouldn't believe how many times I have whacked mine and its fine.

Makes some nasty noises though!

996 Turbos NEED to be lowered.

THE END!

I probably wouldn't go for coilovers again if its a road car. They make the ride pretty nasty to be honest.

Eibach springs, wheel spacers to give it same track as GT2.

job done!

i think he is trying to say the people who own cossies can generally drive better than the people who own the exspensive cars as they just buy them because then can afford them

911... I think!

feels faster as it has LOTS more Torque... so feels punchy.

need to race them actually, me and maria keep saying we will but never get around to it.

Think it will be close. Ferrari is not as slow as I was expecting.

F430 has more power than an F40 and accelerates alot faster!! and doesn't need 2 turbos to make that power!

how things more on huh?

Get him talked into that Lee would be good to have a known name to go to, im getting my map checked by one of the American tuners justnow to see if they think there is room for gains.
Mine sits lower than GT2 ride height and I get over speed bumps fine, new coilovers also give a good ride.

Another educated post If youre refering to a Sierra/Escort Cosworth, well thats what it is, a Cosworth, not cozy/cos/cosy/cosie/cossie etc.
As for a Porsche being a rattly old shitbox its this statement that proves without doubt you have never driven one.
Btw- did you kick the Porsche's arse in your P100 on a straight or round the bendy bits? Just wondering about the trucks cart sprung rear end...

I saw a new 911 Turbo S in silver on the m20 the other day, first new one I've seen on the road. As it pulled along side I thought it must be a GT variant as the wheels didn't look typical turbo style and it had grey chequers down the side. As it went past it had Turbo S on the back, great stance. Then he squeezed the throttle and it moved quite comically, looked like a sped up film.

Lee's engine is nearer to std than you would imagine! Just an inlet cam, valve springs, valve cut outs and a metal head gasket, to me thats near std Obviously it has a larger turbo too!

Eicbach springs? interesting.. will look into this as an option. I had narrowed it down to either KW variant, or X73.

What would you have done with the dampers with your time agai8n? Eibach with standard dampers?

Spacers I have toyed with admitedly, though not found any real evidence that they make a noticable difference.

Discuss!!!

Cheers

Spacers for looks! not for performance mate.

yes. std dampers. IF they are under say 40k miles and working well and not leaking.

Hate the ride on mine... too crashy and hard for everyday roadcar. Works VERY well on track though.

Interesting. I would probably forego the spacers if looks are the only benefit to be honest.

Mine has just about turned over 40k, and so far as I can tell are in good order.
Do you know how the Eibach springs compare to the X73 out of interest?
