When were early 911s a rattly old VW shit box?
And your not on this planet if you think a 'cozy' (I assume this is for warming your teapot) can keep up with a 911 on bends

This thread should have its own windows for half of you lot to slobber on

@Cozy777 - Dude - have you actually ever driven any of the 911 turbos? Your description of handling characteristics suggest not...

Again out of the box I would recon the cos would get murdered even by an older 964 which was the last of the real tail happy cars , from the 993 on they were all 4wd apart from the gt2's or cars with the front prop pulled. With mods the cossies can be great handling cars but then again if your starting on mods the porkers can be improved on aswell.

pmsl! what a post. i take it your knowledge of porsche's is very limited.

and i love how everyone who knows nothing refers to them as vw's.

the man who designed the porsche was enlisted to design the beetle.that is it! not the other way round like most people think, the porsche did not come from the beetle

this i the problem.these lads say a cossie will cane a porker but they are all talking modded cossies. lets a standard 3dr,saff or escort beat a standard porsche at anything other than carrying capacity

The cayenne does use the exact same chassis as the Touareg and Q7.
And Porsche do own 50.1% of VAG shares so they're not exactly wrong

Funny enough my Dad was an avid VW fan and owner and used that one quite a lot 'its just a souped up volkswagon' he used to say bless him

fair enough to the op to have a go when ever I see a super car I always have a go, as ya do 911's have been around for quite a while, are well engineered and kin lively, a true icon in the world of super cars, as they say on the street, 'nuff respect is due'

Default porsche

lol u boys do get out of your prams lol,
if i had not driven a porsche before i wouldnt have commented, i can obviously only comment on what i've driven which is a 911 at palmer sport,a 911 turbo 1976,a 996 3.6,and a boxter 3.2 which drove well but power a bit flat
as for being a school kid lol wish i was that young again
ford boys stick up for there brand same as you porsche boys fair do's but come on a 911 feels like its got flat rear tyres when pushed hard on a track,
as tim harvey said on tv there an aquired taste if you can get used to the floaty rear end like rear steer then you love em just i dont,

and agree if all cars were std a porsche would be quicker but that werent how the thread started.

@ cozy777
I have also driven the Palmer sport 996 - it is a bog standard Carrera 2 with the slushy tiptronic box - not even in the same league as a turbo (which I noted was missing from cozzys list of cars he has driven).

Frankly, bad as it is, I would still put my money on even the Palmer sport 996 over a std cossie through the twisties!

As far as the flat tyres thing - I wonder if it actually had flat tyres? I can find no other plausible explanation for your description..

Tell me about it! People say that to me when I pull up and it irritates the fuck out of me!

This is my 996 Turbo & 5.4 V8 Supercharged F150:

I dont know where Cozy777 Gets the floaty back end from because mine sticks to the road like glue unless I turn PSM off and really throw the car about......

Most people refer to them as glorified Beetles, me included, and I think it's just a term of endearment rather than a dislike of em. If YOU read up on their history, VW and Porsche have been intertwind from pretty much day 1, and it's a little bit more than just the same designer.

To save you having to look, read this little extract:

The 356 was created by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche (son of Dr. Ing. Ferdinand Porsche, founder of the company). Like its cousin, the Volkswagen Beetle (which Ferdinand Porsche Senior had designed), the 356 was a four-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive car utilizing unitized pan and body construction. While the 356's body was an original design by Porsche employee Erwin Komenda, its mechanicals (including engine, suspension and chassis) were derived from the Volkswagen. The first 356 was road certified in Austria on June 8, 1948, and used many Volkswagen parts for manufacturing economy.

I havent name called or anything like that it just seems to me as if your coming away with stuff you read about & when i mean read you have prob read a little bit then a nother bit half way down the page added 2+2 & came up with 9. You forget your talking to ppl on this thread that actually own these cars! look at lee for example (porkie) he has used his porche in ways we can only ever dream of he is just back from the ring last week in it if i remember rightly so if you had a point on the cars performance im sure if it were true he would agree with the ammount of use his has had he is bount to know the car inside out.

Ahhhh now that is where you are wrong my friend.... it is SIMILAR but not the same! Porsche has 'tweaked' the chassis quite considerably! when you break it all down in fact, they are very different!

Oh.. and its the Q5 that has similarities, the Q7 is a longer wheelbase and chassis

track day in m8's 911 turbo 1976 vintage about 8-9 years ago ,nothing as new as yours , but my opinion of it was not good went ok rear endy has hell but worst i drove was the 911 not turbo at palmer sport changed gear about an hr after you asked it to and back end was like driving in jelly not nice the fpa and clios were fun though and i laped about 3 seconds a lap quicker in the clio than in the porsche
