Cossie vs 911 turbo (lesson learnt lol!)

Not standard ones there are not!
You are talking modified ones....
Modify the 911 and then start talking about FAST cars....
as you WELL know... the 9FF 996 Turbo CABRIOFUCKINGLET that did 222mph at Brunters.....
thats just STUPID fast. One of the only cars out there that makes yours look silly and no NOS needed on the Porsche either!
Just driven my old 911 Turbo to Nurburgring and back this weekend. Was perfect all weekend...
did 30.1mpg over whole trip and is a near 200mph car! did Datron timed 180mph with Maria driving at Brunters!
and is now.... FOR SALE!
Great alrounder. Grunty, classy and alot of fun. Drives sooo much better on the newly refurbed std wheels as well.
996 Turbos are Bargains now.

it just seemed you were getting a point across that it wasnt much different to you.
all the point i was saying was that a pair of cars already rolling will not part as easily at 60- as they would from a standing start.if they are not too far apart on bhp per tonne.
once momentum is there you need huge power gains to create big gaps.
had no problem with your post just trying to see what you were getting at

Not a lot at the mo - just continuing to try to improve around the ring.
The wish list kinda stays the same - Trip to DMS for zorst and remap at some point, followed by X73 Suspension (Porsche mildly upgraded). Then continue to bash away at these pesky GT3s!!! (They really are rather irritatingly good around the track!)
We should catch up for beer at some point...

However that doesnt mean I have ANY less respect for what your car did... the difference of 180 to 205 at Brunters is like my car being a Saxo and yours being a 911!
200mph at Brunters is VERY special.
Thanks again for that Rod.

If i ever sell my RS, it will be for a porsche turbo, always liked them, great shape comfortable, and downright insane,
Although i just need to look into what porsche turbo's are worth having and which one i want then wait for the price to come into my bracket hehe,
although a guy i work with has a 4wd porsche turbo, and i like it, i had laways thought porsches' were all RWD,

thats what makes the 9ff so amazing.that speed i so little distance is awesome a true beast of a car.
not that rods isnt as for what it is its blows the goal posts well and truley apart, as with martins and even yum when it was at 466 spec, the mph that got was huge for its power level

i remember about 4yrs ago when i had a striped out escort rs2k running about 180bhp i see a porsche turbo try going up the inside of me on this very short slightly curved straight between 2 roundabouts and me thinking no u dont lol. I boot it and he kind of does but i get well ahead of him. Get to the roundabout and hes in lane next to me and puts his window down and says 'thats alot more rapid than i expected, nice one mate' he then goes on to jokingly say if i had booted it massive time i'd of probably wiped out the whole of tesco there with my back end lol!!! He had a old late 80s one and apparently they're a proper bastard to control as no get me out of trouble gadgets. Was a proper descent guy, not one of these looking down on lesser car type that you often see piloting such a car.

i personally wouldnt be proud about it jon ross
basically you have just come on this thread with massive ford blinkers.
comparing a porsche to a cossie is just silly anyway you try and spin it.
for a start people who are now buying 911 turbos on this forum understand how further advanced they are compared to an old sierra with a twincam in it.
I would suggest you try another forum to spout your rubbish as you are doign yourself no favours.
and 222mph....very extreme power, 1200bhp i heard going around, rod do you know of any chasssis developments on it?

My brother has a DMS'd 996 Turbo and I've had a few Cosworths as has he.
There is not one Cosworth that I would ever swap it for. The power delivery is intoxicating. It really is a true supercar.

You need to put the case for Ford to compare with these cars not loud mouth them.
From your profile i see you are 23 & i guess these are your fast cars, genuine Porsche beaters are they .
Must admit the quadruple garages in such a select area will make Lee very jealous.

i love the fords/cossies much better than porsches. but at the end of the day if you own a porsche rather than a cossy, its not going to break very often, wont rust, its 100 times harder for twoccers to steal the porsche, and best of all everybody outside of ford enthusiast circles (i.e. most of the population) wont think you are a ding for owning it, and will understand why you own it.

Got to admit, I was a Porsche hater at first. Just though of them as a bit of a posers car for someone who couldn't afford a Ferrari
That was until I started my current job and drove my Boss' 996 and two 997's an now his current 997 GT3 and they really are another world, especially the 997's and GT3. For anyone who says that spending Ł100k on a Cossie would get you a better car than a GT3 is plain retarded. It's another class. And this coming from myself, someone your own age, 23, and whos dream car is a Cossie'd bubble arched MK1 Escort.
You (jon_ross) clearly have no idea what your talking about. Actaully drive a 997 GT3, and I dont mean sit in the passenger seat like you did in the Escos, or on some crap driving experience day, I mean sit behind the wheel and find a clear twisty road and come back and tell me its shit.

mate... KW suspension. Dms remap and exhaust, 6 pot brakes and sticky tyres...
bye bye GT3 ( unless VERY well driven! which most aren't!) The tyres and suspension allows you to stay with them on bends.. then use the Turbo grunt and traction to overtake!
I've never been overtaken on track by a GT3 or GT3 RS
GT3 is a purer and amazing car though and no doubt more rewarding once you learn to drive them fast.

6pots - Check!
Sticky Tyres - Currently Pirelli Corsa System - so partial check (will be replaced with R888s next time prob, or these Kumho V70a's that everyone is talking about)
DMS - On the todo list once the last warranty inspection is done at the end of this year!!! (tick tock tick tock!!)
KW - Still a bit nervous about doing this for road comfort reasons I must admit. Also fancy the X73 route which is a bit less dedicated, but possibly a little more compliant on road.
I have a friend about to buy a 997 GT3 Mk1, so the matters above may get pushed up the timetable

Choppin in ones RS for an upgrade an evo or scooby of some sort usually springs to mind, but to a porsche turbo is just an epic move
I've failed at 25 coz i probably couldn't even afford to buy a focus st ffs
im pure hating on you guys, loool

Mind you - I couldnt afford it at 25 either if it is any help!
I understand that others spend their money on kids - I chose a car! Mind you - the wife may have other ideas eventually

Hi fella
Thanks for the kind words - I should warn you that you are dangerously close to following my chosen route in cars! I sold my E39 M5 to partly pay for this current steer!
Couple of pics as requested

Across alps
At the ring in the wet!
My lovely wife when we picked it up!
