ok, sounds a bit daft i know, but i've got a few security cameras now and they can be seen on a moniter and it can be recorded, but the little thingy records to an sd card reader
there's a wired output option as well so i' assuming i can just output that into my computer and it'll record yes?
how?
failing that i can always record onto a bigger sd card as this current one will record about 48 hours on the settings i've set it at (2gb) but i was thinking of just using an old pc i've got laying about the place and using that to record it onto
i'm assuming this'll work too right?
night and day camera with colour and sound and all sorts

now set to 5 frames per second, not been able to figure out how to play it back yet since i've fiddled with the settings
but the 30 frames per second is pin sharp even wireless so it's all good ![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
the computers got a video in card built into the back of it so would that not do the trick? plug the video to the video and the sound to the input?

They quality you watch the live view at and the quality you playback at are not always the same.
Many CCTV recording DVR's/PC CCTV cards will show live video at 25-30fps & full qiality but can't record at anywhere near this rate or quality.

at 5 frames per second it's still good enough to see and the sound is the same, but it still takes up nearly half the space as recording in full 30 frame mode rather than just a tiny bit of it
it's time and date stamped too which is a bonus

if youve got an appropriately specced DVR card with decent software then it does it all for you. most good software will allow you to choose both the quality of the recording, frame rate, with/without sound etc etc etc
Also you can choose how much of the hard drive you use for recording. You can set up folders etc to keep recordings long term or have a rolling system where when its hard drive partition is full, it starts to overwrite the oldest material.
What i finally want for mine is like a 4 camera system including a PTZ dome all recorded in the same quality 24/7. would need a big hard drive though!!

so i'll need to buy 2 sets of recording stuff as sd cards are probably going to work out a bit more expensive
on the plus side, i can put the card into the conputer and it plays everything just fine

at 30 frames it's got sound and very clear picture quality but it does use up a fair amount of sapce on the cards, and looking at the price of the cards, i'd need 4 of the buggers and for that price i could buy a cheap shitty old pc from ebay and just stick a proepr big hard drive inside JUST to record shit on
