Default why do companies try and wriggle out of warranty work?

called gap security to find out what they could do about the alarm going bonkers, draining the battery, not working, not unlocking the doors etc and they said that without the bit of paper they couldn't help me

fair enough

so i spent 2 weeks looking for this bit of paper and failed

so i rang them back again and, to be fair, the guy asked me where i lived and said it was this bolke and gave me his number

so i called him up and talked through what was going wrong

without that bit of paper though, it's £150 call out charge

and then he said it was the factory alarm that was causing the problem

the fact that the factory alarm stopped working when he fitted the cat 1 sort of didn't register and even though he talked me through a few options, ultimatly he said it was the ford alarm being broken and the cat 1 going off because of it

am i wrong in asking them to fix it because it's not the factory alarm that was causing the problem for the past 6 weeks, and now it won't shut up, the cat 1 keeps on screaming away, i can't find the paperwork and, to top it all off, sky want £30 delivery charge for the 1tb box

so who can figure out what the fuck is going on? or do i just bite the bullet and fuck the cat 1 one off and get another one fitted?

can't fucking sleep because the bastard thing goes off at random times of the day and night

i know what you are thinking, did he come back just to have a rant, but secretly, you know you've missed me

What car and what alarm, there is no reason why the cat 1 needs to even interfere with the std fit alarm.
On my dads mondy I fitted a ai600, and left the ford alarm fully working still does, most alarm probs are down to fitting, some false alarm in this heat if they use a mercury switch for the boot/hatch like mk1 sierras.

spot on, especially certain mobile fitting companies, the fitters dont care, most dont take the time to install alarms PROPERLY. I fit alarms for myself and i will only fit alarms i know like the back of my hand and know are reliable, clifford's for example are very reliable if installed properly but if not are the most tempremental alarms in the world!!!!
i have removed and binned more cliffords that have gone wrong due to poor fitting,
i refuse to work on cliffords or anyone elses work for that matter unless removing and refitting my own alarm. i generally install Toad or Cobra alarms and have never had a comeback apart from faulty parts!

i know this doesnt help, your case but i thought i'd share!

if the installer has installed to your gems module incorrectly then that will be why ur factory alarm is playing up.

the mondeo and it's a hornet maxx 1 and it needs a cat 1 for the insurance
everything was working fine till about 5 or 6 weeks ago when it stopped unlocking the doors when you disarmed it and started unlocking the doors when you armed it, regardless of what was going on
then the battery started to go flat at random, and when the alarm would throw a fit with the locking the battery was always flat, but when it worked fine then it fired up on the button
when it was going bonkers the central locking wouldn't work at all, so thinking it was a duff motor in the drivers door i changed it, twice and it stayed the same after the changes
then it would go off at random so i got the battery changed thinking the duff battery was causing the problems
but no, they went on which is why i called them about 2 weeks ago to find out what they could do, but without the paperwork they said they can't do anything
in the last week or so the alarm should have chirped twice when it was armed and then it was chirping again for 5 chirps and when you disarmed it it was chirping 3 times instead of the once
and this morning i disarmed it and the factory alarm went off, the hazards kept going but the car started and was running but the hazards were going, as well as the alarm, and there was a buzzer going off under the dash
which is when they said "£150 call out charge, it's your factory alarm not the hornet" even though the factory alarm hasn't worked since the hornet was fitted

so is there any chance you would be kind enough to come and have a look? and rectify it if needed? or fit another one? preferably one that works properly? pretty please

Hi mate, obviously only a guess but I'd say it's sounds central locking module related myself, especially if it's affecting the locking and activating the original alarm.ditto above the poor wiring connections, cause of 90% of electrical problems.By the way, welcome back mate!!

thanks for the welcomes back

i've changed the central locking master (it's in the drivers door lock mechanism on the mondeo) twice now, once with new, once with second hand, and even did diagrams that can be found herethe problem originally was that it wouldn't lock with the remote or the key or internally, but after changing it the key works which means everything else should work

plus the battery going flat when the alarm is in "fucked up" mode and yet it's fine when it's in "normal alarm" mode all points to it being the alarm

i've even had all the wires off in the fuse box and stuff looking for a drain, as per deano/sheady's instructions and there's nothing when the alarms working fine

but i don't know when the alarms working fine or not

i' even disconnected the radio and amp and everything else before i started doing the drain test and then started to reconnect everything and there was no drain there either

it's dead now because somethings killed the battery (the indicators going off for the past 24 hours probably ) so i'm stuck with a car that won't move because as soon as you go near it the alarm will go off (assuming there's life in teh battery, which there is because i've got one of them solar powered battery charger thingies wired up too)
