Because its the way we speak? Why the fuck do some northerners talk so rediculously fast? Because that's part of their accent, just like our accent includes prenunciation different to t'up north. TBH, southern accents are awesome, then the farmer ones in the midlands are worse, then the northern accents are the worst, then scottish accents are pretty good.

I would say that you can have a better standard of living in the north because you are not getting ripped for everything you buy. Wages in day to day jobs aren't that much different. I have worked all over the country and would rather be up north than down south. Less mardy bums knocking about. Manchester is not really in the North either.
