To be a true cockney you have to be born within the sound of Bow Bells.
For those northerners who are slating us southeners and the way we sound. The general feeling of southerners towards the way northerners sound is as follows:
FUCKING THICK.
especially true if you are from Birmingham area and most defiantely if you are from Dudley. Ok thats midlands but far enough north to be included. Liverpool accent we find rather amusing. Yorkshire - less said about farmer giles the better i reckon.

Super proud of where i'm from.
Love region accents and local dialects though, mental how many there is!
Enjoy some real good banter with my mates from around the country about accents and sayings. Always have a good crack with the lads in the South, and love how abbrassive the Northern folks and Scots are. Cam on tae fuck! Can't we just all get along?

Are you forgeting that noise the Newcastle lot call an accent. Now that is just plain fucking annoying, they change pitch half way through a sentence! Feel sorry for cheryl cole, she's fit as you like till she opens that pie hole of hers - she's got a voice that makes me want to set her on fire!

I speak to some scots quite regularly, and have decided if I wasn't from LAAANDDAAAN I'd want to be from scotland, purely because their accents and 'made up words' are pretty damn awesome. I also speak to a load of northerners when I go racing, and there's no way I'd want to sound like some of them! Some speak so fast, I can only get the word at the start and the end lol. Add to that the fact most of them are complete cockjockeys, makes me happy to be southern

Anyway, just to add another dimension to this fine debate; have you ever heard the west country accent? One of the favourite phrases round here is 'Where's that to?" which bugs the shite outta me! It makes no sense!! Couple that with "Erre mate" preceeding every sentence and they become unbareable! lol!

All my family are EastEnders and ive been bought up in Essex, wouldnt live anywhere else..... fuck the accent... the girls love it...

LOL, I'm from the middlands mate, that's the middle of England in case you didn't have any geography lessons at school, so I'm not really bothered by this North v South debate. However I do think a lot of Southerners sound like muppets, hence the Danny Dyer link and that the Northern ones in the main sound cooler, (apart from Scouse).

There was a southern fairy guy at work from down London way a few years back and his accent REALLY stood out big time. We used to rip the piss out of him like you wouldn't believe. He took it well but ending up leaving after a while, bless him.
