Do you mean Midlands as opposed to Middlands? Im sure you did.
Midlands do fit nicely into the north v south debate as they have a weird accent and they are further north than the watford gap. That is good enough for us down south mate

I heard something like this on T.V All of this stuff is relative to distance.
Liverpool hate Manchester, but are all Northernors when you add a Southernor,
Southerners, hate northernors and vice versa.
But add a Scotsman and we are English, English hate the Scots (add Welsh and Irish to your own taste)
Add a Frenchman and at least we are British. British hate French.
Add a Yank to the mix, at least we are European (still not sure that works with the frenchman though)
Add an Iranian, westerners rule.
I reckon you could keep gonig till you get to the Aussies!!!
