Actually, the bigger the car (the longer the wheel base), the easier it is to drift.
Why shouldn't the Omega be just as good as any other car with similar layout? Or is it because they didn't show one in "Tokyo Drift"?

about 350 kg for a start a sierra is about 1250kg and an omega is about 1715kg lol fair play to him he is good in it but its not going to be as competitive as other cars that are out there is it and at the end of the day mate if there so good why is no one winning in the bdc series with one?

my mr2 has decent tyres on atm but in the wet its realy easy to control when going sideways "or snow for that matter!" but im sure its would have the same effect if i had bold tyres on the back in the dry! paid 300quid for her and at that cost i trash the shit out of her!!! semi stripped!! g-limited

It isn't because non-Jap cars aren't capable, it's purely down to the drivers not wanting to use anything but the typical...
Break it down. All you need is RWD, power and decent set up.
Why wouldn't you be able to make any car competitive?

As far as I know only three drivers dared to be different in the BDC last year; and that was with a Mk2 Escort, E30 BMW and a Sierra (which I just bought! ).

im not saying you carnt mate read my posts all im saying is i dont think a big old boat like an omega would be competitive as smaller more nimble easier to drive on the limit cars like as u say e30s sierras or things like nissan 200s mx7s mr2s many different cars u must be able too see this!
Why would he want to spend tens of thousands of pounds on something to learn in that he'll probably stuff into things when he can get something for less than a grand that he wont worry about. Yes, you can get standard 200's cheap, but they're normally dogs and rusty as fuck (I've got a few mates who have done this, not the best idea )
Get something cheap, learn to drift, if he likes it and does well, spend more on something else. I went to time attack at brands, and saw the EDC there, did i care that almost every car was jap? no, because the car that stood out was a lowly 3 series bmw, that clearly had a whacking great turbo fitted, and created rediculous amounts of smoke and sounded awesome!
Oh, and 'nimble' isn't the first word that springs to mind when I think of an old sierra
Also, do you drift? And have you drifted an omega?

Not the best engine for it , no major issues as such but its a little underpowered and doesnt take too kindly too being revved high for too long
Theres no such thing as a cheap e30 325 anymore unless you know someone that knows someone
look for a 6 pot e36 (323 325 328) cheapest, most reliable drift car you get.
if you have to have a 5 series go for a 535 manwell (e28,e34)

I think you're missing the point a tad. This thread is about a 'nice cheap drift car' and I highly doubt your mates 200 costs the same as an omega does it?

These aren't exactly small, and probably a fair bit bigger and heavier in standard form than any Omega
530 V8 does the trick, this one's at Crail all he time....
Cut the lock stops off, weld the diff, sorted.

Hopefully gonna go to santa pods Drift Wot U Brung Day and was wondering if any one could give me any advice on a nice cheap drift car for the day. I'm a complete novice but thought it would be a laugh and always fancied giving it a go. I was thinking of a e30 bmw. Does the car have to have a lsd?
back to basics, look on trampdrift, too many conflicting views!
