Default Just read "Allen Carrs Stop Smoking"

Just finished Chapter 40 "The Final Cigarette", had my last one (which incidently was last one I had anyway) and I VOW not to have another cigarette.

What an excellently way put book, I advise anyone considering giving up to have a read of this book.

£8.30 including delivery

HERE

So, Stu, if im a bit grouchy with me posts the next few days, dont punish me too harshly, fella!

good luck with giving up..

I bought 200 B&H back in December whilst in Fiji.. were only a few quid.. rude not too.

After I finish them, then its time for me to give up. In all honesty, I really dont think I can Will power all the way, not sure how a book helps you give up really

Stu,

The book is good , but it's EVERYTHING to do with willpower.

I gave up six months ago, and I still feel a craving at least once a day. When you're pissed and mates are passing them out (New Year's Eve), it was only willpower that stopped me from taking one, and not a book.

I read that too, haven't smoked for 2 months and 4 days, not even when i've been drinking, would reccomend it to anyone, but i do know people who haven't stopped. Just made me realise that it was more of a habit than an addiction if you get what i mean, you get into the habit of smoking at certain times of the day, after meals, first thing in the morning, when drinking, but you realise you don't actually NEED to do it.

On the contrary, you will soon learn that smoking takes your confidence away and stresses you

Having re-read my post, it does look like I'm putting you down there mate, but that's not the intention.

Just I know from firsthand experience how deep the cravings can get at times - it's not all plain sailing.

However, best of luck mate

So far i have read the book, tried the patches, plastic inhaler and am now on Ziban tablets (for the second time)

I dont have any illusions that i will be the lucky one & not get anything from smoking - quite the contrary.
Am sacred of being told you`ve only got X time left.

But after all this i still cant stop reaching for the packet Guess i have to apply more discipline

James XXX - Hope your dad pulls through

Sorry your struggling so much
Incidentally, did you try the book with ZERO aids?

I only ask as its a proven fact that smoking aids, using that method, almost guarantee you will fail.

Im only 20 and i never smoked at school (unlike most of my friends who started in there early teens), but started at about 17 for some strange reason which then led to other things. But of all these things ive done smoking fags is the hardest thing of all to give up. Its so wierd cause ive got really strong will power as far as everything else is concerned and have no problem stopping myself doing but i cant go more than 2 days without getting really badly stressed... the only thing that seems to sort me out is a fag!! I understand why they make u feel the way they do and i blatently know how bad for your health they are, but i just cant help myself!!!

This book sounds good but is it really all that different to what anyone else has got to say? I find it hard to believe how addicted to fags ive become!! Ive tried everything... looks like the book could be the answer!!

Was on Ziban just afterwards.

Set target day & Stopped 4 whole days without a smoke and then when i went back to see the nurse as requested for the routine check she told me i could smoke whilst on the tablets

Bad move as the following evening we went out, the girlfiend lit up and i am pinching a quick drag.
Next thing i know its 20 a day again

That was 12 months ago
