I can vouch for Stu.H, the book is excellent. If you read it with an open mind you really can quit.
Just remember that nicotine is highly addictive, so of course it appears to be impossible to quit. That is until you realise that it's also the easiest drug addiction to physically wean yourself off, there is literally no physical pain whatsoever. You only get an 'insecure' feeling, like a hunger, which is why a lot of people tend to put weight on.
Your biggest enemy is the mental brainwashing from tobacco companies. You only believe that cigs relieve stress because you've been told they do. You'll all remember the adverts for Hamlet cigars with Russ Abbot, finding ingenious ways to get out of things, while sitting back chillin' with his cigar. The fat baldyman in the photo booth whose hair keeps falling down, and in the end the chair drops and all you see is the cigar smoke coming up. We've all been brought up to believe that cigarettes and cigars enhance relaxation, releive stress and give us courage in times of need.
Well, as an ex-smoker, I can tell you it's all bollocks, and you as intelligent individuals all know that aswell.
I'm sorry to go on but I'm a real convert now, and I'm pissed off that I fell into that very trap. I only hope it wasn't too late.
Regards,
Mal.

at work, which is a good example... your getting mad with a particular bit, you go outside for a minute, have a smoke, come back and you are mentally refreshed, i found anyways...
Now i know this isnt the actual cigarette doing this but it is still an excuse to have a break before you get really mad and do some damage...
Thats my POV anyways...

Read the book A to Z and it's absolutely useless!
I started smoking more after i read it!!!
The writer has to much prespective in the book and by that i mean the way he looks down on you. Plus the facts he states are old news.
After smoking 20 fags a day for about a year i decided to stop smoking today

I really don't understand you guys. I can go on a nightout, get pissed as, think fook it yeah I fancy a smoke, have 1 not think anything of it next day. Go out next two or three weekends, get pissed not think about having a smoke at all.
Then I'll have another night out and think yeah I fancy one. I just can't get addicted. I really feel for you fellas who are hooked but cause of my own experience i don't understand it.

Shell,
Trust me, filling your lungs with poisonous smoke does not make you feel good. Relieving your nicoltene withdrawal symptoms makes you feel good Its the nicoltene withdrawal that makes you feel edgy and stresseed, NOT the situation your in.

no, i mean when summit is getting on your nerves... things can get on none smokers nerves too... then u have an incentive to go out and smoke and calm down a bit...
I wasnt saying that it was due to the actual cigarette, just due to taking 5 mins out...
sorry...

Why fill your lungs with poisonous deadly smoke if your NOT addicted to Nicotene?
Your just forced to wait longer than those who just admit they need a fag and just buy some
