Default ERST standard wheels?

what width are they? and will an escort mk4 with a lowly 1.1 engine struggle with these on?

6jx15 et 35 mate, as long as you have something like 50 or even 45 profile tyres on you'll be fine. No disrepect but its not like its a big performer anyway, Go for it

like neil says. 195 mm wide. 50% is the percentage of the width and 15 is the wheel size in inch's. Or for you 35cm. Do it. Just for looks

No mate, the rolling diameter stays the same. thats the point of a lower sidewall.

small steelies - big tyres
big alloys - small tyres.

it keeps the speedo reading correctly aswell.

its a 1.1 its has no performance and should give relatively good mpg - just put the rims on there so it looks better.

i dont really know about the mpg to be honest. i've never paid much attention to it on any of my cars lol. you will notice a difference in the way it drives and handles when you first drive it, but after literally 2 or 3 minutes you'll forget about it and appreciate the better grip and firmer feel through the corners. Trust me standard steels are shocking in comparison.

it will be fine hardly any slower if at all. the 195 instead of 65 wont make a difference to your fuel economy.

Heres a couple of calculations for you based on a guess that you have 165/70/13 and against 195/50/15.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
165/70-13 4.5in 11.0in 22.1in 69.4in 913 0.0%
195/50-15 3.8in 11.3in 22.7in 71.2in 889 2.6%

So your new wheels will actually rotate at a lower rate so it wont affect your fuel consumtion, You may even gain a little bit but theoretically you will lose a very sight amount of performance but I would guess that you wouldnt even feel the difference in my opinion. or if your that bothered about performance drop down to a 195/45/15Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
165/70-13 4.5in 11.0in 22.1in 69.4in 913 0.0%
195/45-15 3.5in 11.0in 21.9in 68.8in 921 -0.8%

and you'll gain a slight bit of perforance but theoretically lose a slight amount of fuel economy

so your sayong that for not hurting the fuel consumption 195/50 is the way to go instead of the 45 right? thought that the steelies were 14 inch!
