This thread is full of misinformation and Apple fanboys high fiving each other.

If your main reason for having a mac is "its soo easy to use" then i don't think you should be allowed near a computer never mind outside your own homes!

both machines cannot have been equally specced, also it does not take into account in 6 months time you have various blue screens and shutdowns.

Multiple viruses and a shitload of spyware slowing down youre system

its got nothing to do with being easier to use its about reliability.

Its also about speed, clever software, no crashing better looks, better finish, amazing screens all in one with no wires.

Is like owning a rolls royce instead of a caterham.

I have worked with Mac since 1994 and they are CRAP, they are better these days are they use intel chip sets, so why do you pay more for what is just a intel latop?

OSX is good, well the latest one is good, but why pay the Apple tax, they are just intel boxes.

you will fined you can get a latop with the same chip sets for half the price just to need to blag the BIOS.
so i get it, if youre tight or cant afford a great looking bit of kit in the corner of youre living room you buy a shitty little £300 quid laptop off ebay and flash the bios so you can run OSX.

sounds shit to me. I would rather earn some money and get the real deal.

and another thing my graphics card in my pc twin crossfire ati HDMI thing were nearly £300 each.

That makes £600 quid on graphics. 8 Gig ram dual core 3 gig processor all the bits on it etc etc and it was no faster than my current mac. it crashed ALL THE TIME. i had 22 inch 1920 monitor and it was nowhere near as chrisp and clear as my macs 27 inch monitor.

it was shit and is now in my loft to rot, Well until i put it on ebay.

ive not even had to reboot my mac once. its had about 3 updates instead of the 200 vista had. 7 was quicker for about a month but progressively got slower and slower.

danneth, a few quotes from various websites ive just looked around.

Snow Leopard consistently beats Windows 7 in many general performance areas.

Snow Leopard lasted significantly longer than Windows 7 on a single charge.

theres another graph for you

as with all comparisons like this there will always be tests and sites that favour one or the other.

heres an article clearly making osx quicker for everything except gaming, which of course most of us have a ps3 or a 360 for.

they used the same machine for all the tests

6 months and shutdowns and blue screens? reason for this is what? as ive never had it

viruses and spayware slowing your pc down same again? i think your judging us with maybe what you have gone through in the past?

as for the windows vs mac

dont forget the rest of your graphs from that review

"It's also worth keeping in mind that both operating systems were tested in their "clean" state (fresh and with a minimum number of apps installed) and using Mac hardware, which is naturally optimized for Snow Leopard. As you use them, the performance will change, most likely for worse because of software clutters gathered over time. It's hard to measure which one gets more affected by this than the other. However, when Apple allows installing OS X on PC hardware, I'll for sure run the same tests again."

anyway as i was saying lets just say for arguements sake they were dead level in performance why on earth would you spend 3x as much???

Every pc I have ever used has gained a virus/blue screen/crashed etc. It gets boring after a while. And you can't say I am an apple fanboy, I don't have one yet.

I will update once I've used it for a bit. I'm going up tomorrow now to get one

I so agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's I have a Mac, to make you look good....!!!!!!!

They are wank over priced Shit.

get over it, you can get Windows PC's with better hardware than Mac at a lot less, HP workstations are the very good with 3 years warranty can crapintosh beat that?

If you buy Mac it's for one reason only, Making you look cool to people who know nothing.

sorry I work in the publishing industry and Mac's are gone, they have no point, chuck in a HP worktation you will find even the hardcore Mac person will say Indesign works better on a PC.

im yet to hear one valid good reason as to why to buy a mac which costs the earth at the side of a normal built pc, apart from the odd person who likes to scream they boot up in 10 seconds

anyone who actually " knows " about computers would not buy a mac unless they really wanted the pretty looks and they thought thats worth paying 3x as much

god there are some right cocks on here.

the only reason to buy a mac is to boot up in 10 seconds. and you say i know nothing about computers.

And johnnyb if you work in the publishing industry and think macs are shit theres something wrong with you. i look after company including express newspapers which do most of the top magazines. i also look after national magazines.

its funny but they all use MACS. I wonder why that is!

all i can here is people that are moaning about what they cost, the usual on here really, lets all say somethings shit because i havent got one.

and danneth i didnt post them graphs because as i said its a gaming reference and its not a games machine.

Ill take my 15 years experience in the industry, my experience with shitty windows and my experience with OSX and make my decision.

Which is MACs are

all in one with no wires
looks more modern and stylish
autobackup of all youre important files to wireless device called a time machine for ultimate protection
safari is the best browser in the business.
neater
nicer
better built
better ancillaries like the latest mouse and keyboard
Awesome software included like iphoto and garageband (free)
I dont have to worry about viruses.
Faster machine in 90% of tests on the internet.
No Crashing
No blue screen of death.
No hardware faliures.
No Noise.
works better with My Ipod
optimized for itunes.
better for using photoshop and indesign.
Best screen in the business.

Oh and i can also do everything you windows boys do within 2 clicks of my paralells icon.

theres a few reasons for you. cost should not be an issue, a rolls royce is 240K but simon cowell still bought one.

I bet he uses a mac TOO!

anyway as i said ive used my experience of pcs and macs and i clearly think macs are better.

this will be my last post on this argument as i have nothing to prove to someone that does not even own one and someone else that is bitter about a clearly better product in the industry he works in for some strange reason.

"No Crashing

same as mine then

"Faster machine in 90% of tests on the internet." - my pc is faster then any mac out

"Best screen in the business." - how so? they have a crappy response time and 75hz? think you will find samsung do the best screen in the business

"better built" - custom built so if you believe in your building then your ok

"I dont have to worry about viruses." - me either

"better ancillaries like the latest mouse and keyboard" - this is just a personal pref personally i believe the mx518 to be the best mouse out

could go on forever really backwards and forwards but the end result is still the same there overpriced for what your getting

LOL at people saying that their overpriced but would prolly spunk £250 on a shiny air-filter box ..

I take it that all the people saying that their overpriced for what they do etc run the cheapest most basic car that they can as " it does the same as a overpriced one"

no because a cheaper car couldn't do/have the same as one 3x as much, lets put your theory into place... would by civic type-r perform as good as an escos? no it wouldn't

would my pc £700 perform alot better then any mac yes, see where this is going?

would i pay £250 for an air filter? you mad

if you had a mac you could easily tell that $1200 is not 4 x £330 approx today $1200 is about £725 so double the money

i still wouldnt change my mac for windows ever and neither would any of my friends that have now changed to mac

I work for a news paper company, who make almost all local news papers and the Daily mail and we have just bought another daily news paper.

We do NOT USE Mac's

The art farty people have HP work stations and the Normal Sub Editors just use £400 desktop's

Yes they have a Massive systems behind them, so why do you need Mac?

we produce 100000+ news papers a day

Seems like comparing a Ferrari to a Nissan GTR. Yes the Nissan can do the same as a Ferrari, but if you have the money you know you'd still buy a Ferrari!

Seems like your 15 years has just told you to spout shite then

I work for a company who have over 10000 desktops/laptops and we couldnt run macs, it would financially cripple us for absolutely no tangible benefit.

I have nothing agains macs, or folk that use them, but I do object to MAC fanboys who buy one then proceed to talk, eat, sleep nothing but macs and claim they're sooooooooo much better than pc's when they clearly arent. If they were, then the majority would be using them.
